Mental math comes in handy when making quick calculations. Whenever I put gas or purchase something at the store, I know the amount of change before the cashier gives it to me. My trick is that I know the amount they are charging me. I count the change to the nearest tenth, until it reaches the dollar. I count or subtract the amount I gave in dollars from how much I owed. The dollar part is easy but the change part might be a little challenging. Once you learn how to do this it becomes easy.
