Teaching may not be an easy job, but in the 19 years I have been in the classroom, my students have always made me feel appreciated. Each note and kind word is a gift. ❤️
God doesn’t use me to encourage everyone, but if he uses me to help one student gain a clearer understanding of who he is, it’s all worth it.

Y'all! In this, my 19th year of teaching, I received quite possibly my favorite teacher gift ever. 💜

I have THE best students and families who shower me with love and appreciation on the daily. So thankful.

When you are a teacher at the Rock Academy and it is Christmas Spirit Week and your principal decides to take your picture and your coworkers got all kinds of jokes, it’s difficult to take yourself too seriously. I am so thankful to work with the most amazing humans on the planet. 💜

Our school really is like a family. Today at the end of the school day, Hudson’s class was outside for an extra recess. One of our middle school PE classes was also outside. The coach, who is amazing, noticed some of the first grade boys longingly watching the middle school football game, and he invited them to help referee. Hudson jumped on the opportunity, and quickly got bored of just standing on the sidelines. That’s when one of my high school students, who is a TA for that PE class, volunteered to play catch with Hudson. Coach Jameson sent me a bunch of photos of my kid having the time of his life with one of my students and my heart overflowed with gratitude for how special our school community is. 💜

Y’all! Odysseus tried to call me today! 😂

Make the most of every opportunity!

Yesterday I got to hug one of the best. I taught this young man his senior year, and my first year at the Rock Academy (2016-2017).

At the end of almost every school day he would drop by my classroom to chat and make me laugh. He quickly charmed his way into my heart.

To know Jorge Padilla is to love him. Getting to see him, meet his beautiful wife and sweet baby boy filled my heart with joy. ❤️

Jorge, I am so proud of you and the good man, husband and father you are.

I have only taught in one small town, nevertheless this rings true. I treasure each time a student shared a bit of their heart with me. I just finished reading a slew of essays and my heart is so full. I teach the most amazing humans. 💜

I had the best day introducing my juniors and seniors to literary analysis using this incredible children’s book! I have loved reading to to my kids, and today I got to read it to my students. It made several of them teary-eyed. ❤️ The author is a dear friend from my days at UF, so that made today extra special. 💙🧡

I make the kids do work each morning during the summer. Hudson takes it very seriously.

This is definitely my teaching style. I am happy for my students (and my kids) to put their own spin on the way they demonstrate their learning. 😊
