The longest journey I have ever taken
was from my head to my heart.

There, I discovered that faith is not about
understanding everything—
it is about trusting the One who does.

DAY 5 – TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART
Proverbs 3:5

Trust is the one thing I struggled with the most.

For much of my life, I trusted my own understanding. I trusted my plans, my abilities, my opinions, and my need to know what came next. I wanted answers before taking steps forward. I wanted certainty before surrendering control.

What I did not realize was that trust is not built in the mind alone—it is formed in the heart.

The longest journey I have ever taken was not across the country during my travels. It was the journey from my head to my heart.

Over the years, God gently taught me that faith is not about having all the answers. It is about believing that He does. Through disappointments, unanswered prayers, unexpected detours, and seasons of uncertainty, He patiently showed me that His plans were greater than my own.

Little by little, I learned to release my need to control outcomes and place them into His hands. I discovered that trust is not a single decision but a daily choice. It is choosing to believe when we cannot see, to follow when we do not understand, and to surrender when we would rather hold on.

Today, I can look back and see that every step of the journey was preparing me to know God more deeply. The more I trust Him, the more peace I experience. The more I surrender, the more I discover His faithfulness.

Trusting God does not mean we know where every road leads. It means we know the One who is leading us.

And that has made all the difference.

DAY 4 – THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD; I SHALL NOT WANT
Psalm 23:1

For much of my life, I gave my attention to what I wanted. I chased goals, searched for answers, sought fulfillment in accomplishments, relationships, experiences, and the things of this world. Yet no matter how much I achieved or acquired, there was always something missing.

What I did not understand was that my soul was longing for God.

When I came to know Jesus more deeply, I began to realize that true fulfillment is not found in getting everything we want. It is found in discovering the One we were created for. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit fill the deepest places of our hearts in a way nothing on earth ever can.

"The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want" does not mean we will never face challenges or have needs. It means that when God becomes the center of our lives, we learn that He is enough. His presence brings peace that possessions cannot provide. His love satisfies a hunger that success cannot fill. His guidance leads us when we do not know which path to take.

Like a loving shepherd, God watches over His children. He protects us from dangers we cannot see. He comforts us in times of sorrow. He strengthens us when we are weak. He walks beside us through every valley and every victory.

Today, I am learning that the greatest blessing is not receiving everything I ask for—it is receiving more of Him.

When God becomes our greatest desire, we discover that what our hearts have been searching for has been with us all along.

💛 How has God shown Himself to be your Shepherd during a difficult season of your life?

There was a time in my life when I was blind, paralyzed, and in a coma. For four months I lay in a hospital bed unable to move my legs. My body would not function on its own, and yet I felt no pain. I was numb.

As I lay there, surrounded by people who were suffering, I prayed for them. Even in my weakness, God showed me that love still had a purpose. Through His grace and mercy, He healed me. What doctors could not fully explain, God accomplished in His perfect way and in His perfect time.

Today, I find myself facing another physical challenge. This time I am not numb. I live with pain every day. Like many of you, I pray daily for healing and trust that God is working, even when I cannot see the outcome.

Over the years, I have come to understand something important: physicians are instruments of healing, but God is the ultimate Healer. We need doctors, and I am grateful for them, but every healing ultimately flows from the hand of God.

If you are struggling with illness, pain, or physical limitations, do not give up on God. Sometimes healing comes quickly. Sometimes it comes after a long season of waiting. And sometimes God uses our suffering for a purpose greater than we can understand.

I believe that no pain is ever wasted in God's hands. Even our suffering can become a source of love, compassion, encouragement, and hope for others. Sometimes the very thing we wish would leave us becomes the thing God uses to draw people closer together.

So keep praying. Keep trusting. Keep believing.

Whether God heals you today, tomorrow, or in ways you cannot yet see, He has not forgotten you. Your life has purpose. Your pain has meaning. And God's love is working through every part of your journey.

Has God ever carried you through a difficult illness or times of suffering? I'd love to hear your testimony in the comments.

"But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord."
Jeremiah 30:17
