If you pick the wrong person, they might do a sloppy job, take too long, leave the job unfinished, or run off with your money. Generally speaking, though, deciding who to hire to fix your house is a low-risk, low-stakes decision.

Deciding which doctor to hire to treat your cancer is a decision with the highest stakes possible, life or death. If they do a good job, you live. If they do a bad job, you die. You cannot afford to pick the wrong person.

So if you think it’s wise to get three bids to paint your house, don’t you think you should get at least three medical opinions on your cancer diagnosis and treatment options?

Don’t let the first doctor you talk to rush you into treatment out of fear. You have time and you have more options than you realize. Get more advice and more opinions so you can make the best decision for you.
