📣Welcome back to the 2025 San Diego Tap & Jazz Dance Festival- 🤩DANTÉ LARA is a California (Los Angeles) based tap dancer, teacher and choreographer who continues to impact the new international tap dancing scene with cutting edge choreography of all tap subgenres. Dante’s entertaining improvisational skills are captivating for all audiences & he aims to bring new faces of all ages into tap dance culture. Dante has tap danced in every setting imaginable, from company work, on stage and Television to living in New York City, street performing and performing with various Jazz bands & as a soloist.

As a youngin, Dante was fortunate enough to take class & even share the stage with the late Gregory Hines, Feyard Nicholas & Arthur Duncan on multiple occasions, to name a few. As an original alumnus and later teacher of the legendary LA Tap festival since 2003; Dante has performed repriotore from hoofers like Harold Cromer, and Leonard Reed (the creator of the shim sham) & studied extensively with Chloe Arnold, Jason Samuels Smith, Alfred Desio, Steve Zee as a young tap dancer. Most recently, Dante was singing and dancing in the movie Spirited (2022) featuring Ryan Reynolds & Will Ferrell. Dante has also been performing all around Los Angeles, Las Vegas, & Utah with the Amanda Castro Band as a live Tap dance soloist. Some of his Acting/Dancing credits include (World of Dance Top 16), Nintendo, Ford, and Yamaha to name a few. 🎶🎉

Chicago native NICO RUBIO is one of the leading Tap Dancers of his generation. The founder and director of SHUFFLE LiiiFE Productions and tap company 333 (Three Thirty Three), Nico has traveled the world, teaching, performing and choreographing everywhere from Europe to Asia, Central America to South America. Appearing locally on Windy City Live and halftime for the Chicago Bulls, as well as abroad, from the Love Supreme Jazz Festival to the San Miguel Jazz Festival. Most recently speaking and performing for TedX at The Harris Theatre.
`In 2018, he received the Chicago Dancemakers Forum’s Lab Artist Award. In 2019, he produced, choreographed, and even DJ’d By Way Of Taps: A J Dilla Tribute, which was performed at Columbia’s Dance Center, in Long Beach California, and premiered in full at Thalia Hall in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. From 2020 to now, Rubio has produced in person and virtual events, such as Shows, Jams, Workshops, and notably his Footage Functions, that have furthered his contributions towards preserving where Tap has been, where it is now, and where it’s going. Nico’s mission is not just to expose the majesty and humanity of Tap Dancing and other art forms, but to highlight everyone’s iNFINITE iNDIVIDUAL iNCANDESCENCE (light), via SHUFFLE LiiiFE.🤩
