And now for our last student feature Sunday of the quarter... say hello to Angela! After taking sociology classes during her first two years at UCSD, she realized she liked focusing more on an individual’s development within their own specific contexts, and HDP allowed her to do that. She loves that HDP allows students to go down so many different career paths. Angela recommends any new HDP major/minor student to join HDPSA or at least surround themselves with people who will help you in the direction you want for yourself. Thanks for your wise words, Angela 😊😊😊

This week’s student feature Sunday goes out to Cristina Rangel! Cristina is minoring in Human Development (yes, you can be a part of HDPSA even if it’s your minor 😃) because it aligns closely with her interest in developmental psychology, and she says that HDP has provided her with a supportive community of students that share her interest in improving the lives of others. Cristina aspires to to obtain a PhD in developmental psychology in order to research adolescence, particularly Latinos and immigrant youth. We’re lucky to have you future, Dr. Rangel 💙👩🏻🏫
And now for another Student Feature Sunday... say hello to María, everybody! María is a fourth year who will be graduating this Spring. She aspires to work as an educator and mentor in non-traditional education settings, such as non-profits that serve at-risk youth. About the major, María says, “I am yet to hear about another interdisciplinary major that sets you up with an internship, research, networking, and study abroad opportunities and so much more. The more I dive into the field, the more I see how applicable it is to EVERYTHING and wonder why everyone isn’t HDP!” Best of luck with your last quarter, María! We know you’ll be great 😊💙
And now for another Student Feature Sunday! Not only is Danielle Castillo our HDPSA Secretary, but she is a senior Human Development Major who aspires to be a teacher. Danielle says being in HDP has been an amazing experience, and she’s sincerely enjoyed every class she’s taken. She says, “not only will this program benefit me as a future teacher, but it will also help me as a parent, an aunt, and a friend.” Are you interested in HDP? Well for any new HDP majors/minors, Danielle recommends using HDP courses to figure out what you’re passionate about plus the staff and professors are all there to help you and want to see you succeed. Danielle will be graduating this Spring, and we’re definitely going to miss her 💛💙
Join us for GBM every Wednesday at 10am in AP&M 5350!
Super Bowl Sunday calls for a kick-off to our Student Feature Sunday’s 😁 Over the next coming weeks you’ll get to learn all about the amazing members of HDPSA, and the Human Development Program through their voices. Up first... Kristina Manilay! Kristina chose HDP primarily because of the flexible career options the program offers, and she could suit the coursework to her interests in teaching and understanding people’s ways of thinking - plus, the students and staff she’s encountered have helped her find a workable balance between academics, campus involvement, and musical endeavors! Her pro-tip for new HDP Students is this: create a custom 4-Year Plan, the advisors helped in organizing a flexible academic plan that fits both academics and time for a social life. She hopes to be an educator in Elementary schools, and we at HDPSA know she’ll make an excellent educator ✏️❣️
