This can be applied to non feathered critters TOO! As long as the food used is species appropriate or approved by a certified veterinarian the same process can be used with many species especially omnivores and herbivores like iguanids, chelonians, agamids, geckos etc.
Training birds to take treats out of a syringe can reduce the stress associated with medicating if your pet ever becomes sick in the future. Try offering fruit juice, nut butter (like almond or macadamia nut butter), or apple sauce using the syringe. As with all training, use positive reinforcement (they are already getting a treat but don’t forget to use verbal praise!), and use gradual steps to get to the ultimate behavior of taking the treat out of the syringe.

Tis’ the season for ! Delilah the got some fresh bamboo which produced a couple hours of active behavior! She also got some dry fuschia sticks zip tied tightly together. This did not produce the same duration of behavior but still served as novel olfactory, tactile, and visual stimuli.

Fresh clean browse(vegetation) is often a very effective way of encouraging exploratory behavior as you can see here. Bruce and Latoa with some bamboo. As always safety is number one so be certain its clean, free of harmful chemicals, and is a non-toxic plant species.

A foundations in snake training Class alumni keeping up the good work with this cobra!!!
Some late night foraging by Mundi the 2x speed! Caught by a security camera. They are very helpful for shy snakes who aren't fans of eating infront of people. This way we can see how they interact with novel stimuli and find out how long it takes for them to finish a puzzle which influences whether we increase or decrease the difficulty of the puzzle :)
Finally got moving water into Bruce the 's enclosure! Will be be adding some aquatic plants soon.. Stay tuned to see how this provision influences his behavior!

A very delayed post! Our director of training and media Peter Amelia identifies as ***r and uses they/them pronouns. Even before Peter joined the team however Reptelligence has been a supporter of LGBTQIA2S+ rights and representation in the animal training industry. In this photo Peter is enjoying some sun with Delilah our
