Today in Spanish class, 3rd grade students learned about “Dia de Los Reyes,” also known as Three Kings’ Day. In Mexico, it is celebrated on January 6 with presents and accompanied by Rosca de Reyes, a popular sweet bread. The students love learning about other cultures and traditions that are celebrated in other parts of the world. Have a great weekend everyone! Go Gulls 💜💛

In Mr. Williams’ 4th Grade class, students have been learning about circuits in science. They were tasked with building a “Conductor Detector” to test various materials around campus. If those materials conducted electricity, their detectors would close a circuit and allow a light bulb to light or make a motor run. The students tested everything from the bleachers in the amphitheater to the poles of the basketball hoops. A couple of groups even asked Mrs. I if they could test her ring as she crossed the playground. They were surprised by some of the materials that actually produced electricity, as well as the ones that did not. It’s always fun to see our students learning outside of the classroom. Go Gulls 💜💛

🌱✨ Exciting Wellness Garden Update! In Wellness class, our Kindergarten-5th grade students have been hard at work preparing the soil and planting seeds for our winter garden! 🍂🌾 We've got a vibrant mix of veggies growing, including lettuce, beets, turnips, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, onions, winter squash, radishes, carrots, and more! The enthusiasm among the kids is palpable! When we return from Thanksgiving break, they will see the magic of seedlings sprouting. 🌱💚 Not only are they cultivating a love for gardening, but they'll soon get to taste the literal fruits (and veggies) of their labor. 🥬🥦🥕 Eating from the garden is more than just a meal; it's an opportunity for our young ones to expand their palates and embrace the joy of trying new, fresh foods. Here's to a season of growth, discovery, and delicious harvests! 🌽 🌻 Go Gulls 💜💛
Last week, Mrs. H’s PK class learned all about the letter F and fruits & vegetables. Then, they put them together to make a “fruit yogurt parfait.”
This was a simple age-appropriate cooking activity that gives children the opportunity to use the knowledge and skills they have learned and apply them (by following directions, measuring, and understanding sequences). Moreover, cooking and eating together provides a time to be connected with each other. We love watching these little minds grow and expand daily. We love our Junior Gulls!
In honor of Veterans Day, Kindergartners listened to a read aloud of Rags: Hero Dog of WW1: A True story by Margot Theis Raven. They learned that many kinds of animals have served our country in the military. Then they did a directed drawing of Rags! Go Gulls!! ❤️🤍💙

In 7th Grade, students are introduced to the Industrial Arts program and begin to learn the basic techniques of metalworking and welding techniques. In 8th Grade, students expand upon their skill set and create original sculptures based on their individual passions.
To build their art, they learn how to cut sheet metal using a plasma cutter, use a blow torch for bending and shaping metal, and follow welding techniques and procedures. Sculptures are displayed around the Middle School campus and can be seen at the Arts Showcase. Want to learn more? Join us for one of our Middle School Open House events in November or January.
