Hello Promise Community,
There will be a reflection hour in L-106 today to process the tragedy that occurred yesterday at San Diego's largest masjid. Our campus and District stand in solidarity with the Muslim community. We condemn all acts of terror, hate, and violence, especially those done against marginalized communities. We hope that this hour of reflection will give our campus community an opportunity to come together, process grief, and practice love and mindfulness. Please know that you have a space on our campus and deserve to feel secure and safe in your places of learning.
Thank you to staff such as Professor Mona Alsoraimi for raising awareness and offering activities to support our Muslim students.
We must NOT give into the normalization of terror. Stay strong, stay connected, and stay safe.

Students for Justice in Palestine at City College is collaborating with a number of organizations on International Workers' Day to march from Chicano Park to City Hall to submit demands.
See the demands and pledge: https://cpisandiego.org/may-day/
"International Workers' Day is a collective recognition of the contributions that working communities and individuals make to society and the economy. We march as a reminder of the importance of fair work conditions and workers' rights. We demand that our mayor and elected city council represent our working communities by adopting a budget that truly serves all working people in San Diego and meets our needs without terrorizing, criminalizing, surveilling, and exploiting us."

Hello Promise Community!
This afternoon, Dr. Anaà Novoa of UC San Diego's Scripps Institution of Oceanography will speak about her journey into marine science, her experience as a first-generation college student, and her ongoing work advancing equity and student success in STEM. Dr. Novoa's story is one that many of our students will see themselves in, and her work is a powerful reminder of what becomes possible when we create pathways for students who have historically been excluded from these fields.
Event Details: Today, Monday, April 28, 2026 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Location: S-113
