Last week was one of those weeks that fills your teacher heart completely. 🤍

From being spoiled all week during Teacher Appreciation Week by our amazing PTO, to the thoughtful love from my students and their families, I felt so incredibly appreciated and thankful.

One of my favorite moments was creating these Mother’s Day coaster gifts with my students. It was my first time making them, and they turned out so special! Seeing the excitement and pride on their faces while creating something meaningful for their families made my heart so happy. Safe to say… this will definitely become a yearly tradition in our classroom. 🫶✨

Feeling extra grateful for this little classroom community and all the love that was shared last week.

If you give a student a pencil… ✏️

And if writing feels smooth and successful… they’ll want to keep trying 💛

That’s why I LOVE Ticonderoga pencils in my classroom.

In kindergarten, the little things matter BIG. A strong pencil means:

Two of my absolute favorite structures are Mixed Pair Share and Rising Star—because they make engagement feel natural, structured, and inclusive for EVERY learner.

✨ Mixed Pair Share
Students pair up (often with a partner they don’t usually work with), and take turns sharing their thinking while the other listens. Then, switch! It gives every child a chance to process out loud, hear new ideas, and build confidence in a low-pressure way. No hiding, no opting out…just meaningful conversations happening all around the room.

✨ Rising Star
This one is MAGIC for confidence building 💫 A student shares an idea, and then another student “rises” to add on, support, or extend the thinking. It turns sharing into a team effort instead of a spotlight moment. Even my quieter students feel safe jumping in because they’re building together—not performing alone.
