Exciting news! 🎉 Cristo Rey San Diego is excited to announce John Amann as our new Vice President of Academic & Operational Excellence; a new role focused on strengthening our academic programs and operations for years to come.

After two incredible years as Principal, John has helped lead major progress at CRSD, growing our academic program, expanding student opportunities, and building a strong leadership team, all thanks to our amazing students, families, faculty, staff, and partners.

Stepping into the Principal role is Sara Odioso, continuing our mission of preparing every student for college, career, and a life of faith-filled leadership. 🙌

Strangers today, Coyotes forever! 🐾💙💛

Last month, our Student Ambassadors hosted a Summer Ice Cream Social for our incoming students, and it was the perfect chance for our newest Coyotes to actually get to know one another before the school year even starts!

Between games like Where the Wind Blows, the Hula Hoop Chain, and Human Knot, students were laughing, teaming up, and making the kind of connections that turn strangers into classmates. Everyone also got to tie-dye their very own Class of 2030 shirt to wear with pride!

And of course... there was ice cream.🍦

We can’t wait to see the whole pack, including our new Class of 2030, back on campus for the upcoming school year!

El mes pasado, nuestros Embajadores Estudiantiles organizaron un Ice Cream Social de verano para nuestros nuevos estudiantes, ¡y fue la oportunidad perfecta para que nuestros nuevos Coyotes realmente se conocieran antes de que empezara el año escolar!
Entre juegos como “Where the Wind Blows, Hula Hoop Chain, y Human Knot”, los estudiantes se la pasaron riendo, trabajando en equipo, y haciendo esas conexiones que convierten a desconocidos en compañeros de clase. ¡Todos también tuvieron la oportunidad de hacer tie-dye a su propia playera de la Generación 2030 para portarla con orgullo!

Y por supuesto... hubo helado.

¡Ya queremos ver a toda esta manada, incluyendo a nuestra nueva Generación 2030, de regreso en el campus para el próximo año escolar!

We are thrilled to announce that Sara Odioso will be stepping into the role of Principal at Cristo Rey San Diego High School!

Sara has been an integral member of our school community for the past three years, previously serving as the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction. In that role, she worked closely with teachers and students to promote college-ready learning environments, design robust academic programs, and center student thinking in the classroom. Sara is honored and blessed to continue serving our students, families, and staff in this new capacity. Her deep familiarity with our campus culture, combined with her unwavering commitment to academic excellence, makes her uniquely suited to advance our instructional vision.

Sara ha sido una parte fundamental de nuestra comunidad escolar durante los últimos tres años, previamente como Decana de Currículo e Instrucción. College Bound | Nicoletta H. is Headed to Mount Saint Mary’s University Los Angeles

As our recent graduates prepare for their fall semester, we are continuing to celebrate the Class of 2026 and the college and career experiences that are shaping their next steps. 🎓

Next up is Nicoletta H., who is headed to Mount Saint Mary’s University Los Angeles this fall. Nicoletta was accepted to many colleges and universities, including CSU Dominguez Hills, CSU Sacramento, CSU San Marcos, Point Loma Nazarene University, Regis University, San Francisco State University, and University of San Francisco.

Throughout her four years at Cristo Rey, Nicoletta gained professional experience through the Corporate Work Study Program with Scripps, Curriki, USD, and Casa Cornelia Law Center. Reflecting on that experience, Nicoletta shared that Work Study taught her how to respond confidently and professionally in different situations, both at work and at school.

Nicoletta is excited for Mount Saint Mary’s University Los Angeles because of its political science program, Catholic identity, and empowering all-women’s college experience. She was also named a recipient of the Greg Brown Scholarship, which helps reduce financial barriers for students pursuing higher education at a four-year college or university.

Congratulations, Nicoletta! We are so proud of you and excited for all that comes next. Cristo Rey will always be a home base for you, and we can’t wait for you to come back and visit. 💙🐾

Cristo Rey students took the mic on Spotlight On The Community with Drew Schlosberg, and they did an incredible job sharing what makes the Cristo Rey experience so meaningful.

In the episode, five Cristo Rey San Diego High School students spoke about their experiences in school and as Work Study students serving at companies and organizations across San Diego County. Their stories highlighted the power of mentorship, community, and real-world work experience in shaping both personal growth and professional development. One thing was also clear right away: they may have some future career options in podcasting, too.

Through their reflections, listeners get a closer look at how Cristo Rey students are building confidence, finding support, and preparing for the future through meaningful opportunities in and beyond the classroom. We are grateful to Drew Schlosberg, Cloudcast Media, and the Spotlight On The Community team for welcoming our students and giving them the opportunity to share their voices.
