🔍 Applying for an F-1 visa? Your online presence is part of the screening process.
Many students prepare their documents, practice interview questions, and pay their fees—but overlook an important step: understanding the government’s social media instructions.

📌 What the U.S. government requires:
F-1 visa applicants are subject to an online-presence review. As part of the application and screening process:
✔️ On your DS-160, you must provide all social media usernames or handles you used during the past five years on the platforms listed in the application.
✔️ The U.S. Department of State instructs applicants to set all their social media profiles to “public” or “open” so they can be reviewed.
✔️ If you have never used social media, you may select “None” on the application.

⚠️ Why this matters:
Your application answers must be accurate and truthful. Inaccurate or untruthful answers can result in a visa denial. Some applications require additional administrative processing after the interview. Timing varies by case, so applying early matters.

✅ What you can do right now:
1️⃣ Provide the required social media information honestly and completely on your DS-160.
2️⃣ Follow the instruction to set all your social media profiles to “public” or “open.”
3️⃣ Review your application carefully to make sure your answers are accurate and complete.
4️⃣ Apply well before your planned travel date to allow time for processing.

At Q International School, we want every student to approach their visa interview prepared and confident. Our team can help you understand official U.S. government guidance as you prepare.

Planning to study English in the USA? Here's what to know.

In July 2026, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published a final rule for F-1 students. One of the biggest changes for English learners: F-1 students in English language programs would be limited to a total period of 24 months. That total includes time at more than one language school, school breaks, and vacation periods. Transferring schools would not restart the clock.

📌 Where things stand today:

A federal court paused this rule on September 14, 2026, before it took effect. The current rules remain in place. The court case is still ongoing, and we'll share important updates.

💡 What this means for you:
The 24-month limit is not in effect now. If you are planning a longer English program, it is still helpful to think about your goals, your program length, and your study dates. Our admissions team can help you review your options based on the rules in effect when you apply.

✅ What you can do right now:
1️⃣ Talk to our admissions team about a study plan that fits your English goals
2️⃣ Review your program dates carefully before your I-20 is issued
3️⃣ Start your visa preparation early, since interview appointments can take time

At Q International School, we follow official U.S. government sources and update our students when anything important changes.
