And every time, I needed Spanish I’d never used before just to get through it and take care of myself.

That’s the part no one really prepares you for.

Most hotel staff speak English.

And ordering food is pretty easy, because ultimately you can just point to what you want.

Where Spanish learners get stuck is when something goes wrong.

When you have to explain what’s happening, ask for something specific, or figure things out in the moment.

That’s what actually tests your Spanish.

And that’s why I don’t focus on getting everything perfect.

I focus on helping you handle real-life situations, even when you don’t have the exact words.

I see a lot of learners trying to get every detail right before they speak.

Meanwhile, they’re holding back and not using the Spanish they already know.

More confidence comes from speaking, not waiting.

Less perfectionism comes from seeing that you can be understood without saying everything perfectly.

And doing something small every day is what keeps it going.

That’s what builds real progress over time.

Not getting everything right.

Just staying in it and continuing to speak.
