I’m absolutely stunned and honored to have been awarded the inaugural Vesalius Health Humanities Prize for my Anatomia Italiana program at the 5th Vesalius Continuum, University of Antwerp, Belgium!
Named in honor of the 16th century pioneering anatomist Andreas Vesalius whose seminal work “De humani corporis fabrica” transformed the study of human anatomy, this prize recognizes outstanding scholarship in the health humanities.
I’m holding a fantastic award produced by my colleague, dear friend, and renowned artist Pascale Pollier. Her original wax sculpture of the head of Vesalius showing superficial and deeper structures is a work of art in its own right!
Many thanks to Pascale, Ann Van de Velde, and the entire conference organizing committee for their kindness in bestowing upon me this recognition! ❤️ I’m beaming! 🥹

Save the Date, June 13 - 25, 2027 for Anatomia Italiana del Nord, and bathe in the spirituality of the Chapel of the Holy Shroud of Turin, housing what is believed by the faithful to be the burial cloth of Jesus of Nazareth, the linen cloth upon which His image was miraculously imprinted at the moment of his Resurrection. The ribbed dome above the reliquary containing the shroud is a Baroque architectural wonder in its own right. Registration opens in October, for updates join the Inquiry List at https://anatomiaitaliana.com/del-nord-2027
