One of my favorite parts about this work is seeing people come back year after year.

I first photographed Tania when she was pregnant, and over the years I’ve had the chance to keep creating portraits for her and June and family as they grow together. It honestly means a lot to me to become a small part of people’s family history and memory through these photographs.

Watching kids grow, seeing families return, remembering past sessions, it’s one of the most meaningful parts of having this studio.

Thank you Tanya for trusting me all these years to create these portraits for your family. It’s always special to see you both come back to the studio.

This year for Nowruz, my wife made her own traditional Kurdish dress just in time to celebrate with her family surrounded by Kurdish food and tradition.

A few days after, we came to the studio and made this portrait. It’s something I try to do every year.

The first two images are from 2026, the last two from 2024.

We’re lucky to have this small multicultural family, being able to celebrate and carry these traditions together.

Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear jerseys and hold megaphones. I met in a grocery store, recognized his community work, and was honored to create these portraits with him. Thank you, Arturo, for your work in our community and for keeping us safe.
