This will be on my daily rotation all winter!
It’s called Fire C***r - an old remedy/tonic that is said to prevent & kill cold & flu bugs!
1 large bottle of organic apple c***r vinegar poured into a half gallon glass mason jar with the following organic ingredients:
1 sliced onion
1 head peeled garlic (smash the cloves)
1 sliced Jalapeno pepper
1 sliced lemon, orange, lime (rind on)
1 sliced apple
1 large hand of ginger, sliced (skin on)
2 - 3” pieces of turmeric, sliced (skin on)
5 star anise
2 sticks cinnamon
2 Bay leaves
8 Black peppercorns
Dried Elderberries (1 TBLSP)
6 whole cloves
1 tsp each coriander & fennel seeds
1 T kosher flaky salt
2 sprigs fresh rosemary &/or oregano

Fill jar completely. Put lid on tight and shake it up. Let it ferment on the counter for 4-6 weeks. Strain well and squeeze everything in a cheesecloth to get all of the liquid. Add raw honey after straining to sweeten. Drink 1-2 ounces per day on an empty stomach.
Let me know if you try it!

This fresh peach 🍑 summer salad 🥗 was a huge hit last night. I highly recommend assembling your salad on a big white platter. It makes all of the colors pop and your guests can clearly see what the ingredients are. Plus, there’s no need to toss it. Just drizzle the dressing lightly over the top. Garnish and set some tongs next to the salad for easy serving.

Peach Summer Salad:
1/2 ice berg lettuce or butter lettuce torn into bite size pieces
1 container wild arugula
6 large fresh peaches, sliced or cut in chunks (don’t peel them)
8 slices of shaved Black Forest ham
thinly sliced pickled white or red onion
1 cup torn fresh basil leaves

Dressing:
1/4 cup red w**e vinegar, 1/3 cup good quality EVOO, 1 T Dijon mustard, 2 tsp raw honey, salt & pepper to taste. Shake together in a glass jar.

Garnish:
Crumbled Feta Cheese
Toasted pumpkin Seeds, pistachios or slivered, toasted almonds
Balsamic glaze (balsamic reduction)

Slow Braised Chuck Roast w/ Garlic Mashed Potatoes (FRIDAY SHABAT DINNER)
RECIPE: 1 medium sized, bone in chuck roast seasoned on all sides with kosher salt & pepper. One diced onion, 1 cup diced celery (and the leaves), 4-5 carrots cut into chunks, 5 cloves garlic (peeled and cut in half), 1 cup full bodied red w**e, 1 cup beef bone broth, 2 T tomato paste, 1 T worcestershire sauce, salt & pepper to taste, 2 T AP flour or gluten free flour. Sprig of Rosemary.
DIRECTIONS:
Pre-heat oven to 275 degrees. Heat up Dutch oven on the stove. Add 2-3 T beef fat (tallow), or, high heat oil such as avocado or regular olive oil. Sear the roast on all sides to lock in the juices. Remove roast from pan and set aside. Add onion, garlic, celery and carrots and saute until they start to sweat & caramelize. Pour the red w**e over the veggies and cook on medium until w**e reduces to half. Add in the tomato paste and cook with the veggies for 5 minutes. Sprinkle veggies with 2-3 T AP flour and combine well. Pour in the beef stock over all and stir quickly as it thickens into a gravy. Add the roast back into the Dutch oven. Spoon the vegetables and gravy over the roast. Add a sprig of Rosemary. Cover the roast with a parchment paper cartouche. Cover and slow cook in the preheated oven for 4 hours. Turn roast over half way through cooking and spoon gravy over it. Remove lid and cartouche after 4 hours and reduced oven heat to 250 degrees F. Spoon gravy over the roast again then serve after 30 minutes. The roast will fall apart and be so tender! Delicious with cauliflower garlic mashed potatoes or celery root puree. ENJOY!

These Black Sesame Shortbread Cookies have a unique, not-too-sweet flavor that make them the perfect cookie with a cup of Earl Grey tea.

Directions: (use a stand mixer if you have one)
Mix together 2 sticks softened, unsalted butter with the sugars, salt, egg yolk and anise extract. Mix in the black sesame seeds, then all of the flour. Mixture will be quite dry & crumbly like pastry dough. Gradually mix in 3-5 T of ice cold water until dough holds together. Press dough into slice & bake rolls. Wrap and chill 30-60 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 F. Slice cookies 1/2 inch thick and place on parchment lined baking sheet. Bake 15-18 minutes until lightly browned around the edges. Let cool 5 minutes then transfer to a bakers rack to finish cooling. Enjoy!

I finally figured out how to make a soft, fluffy, buttery cinnamon roll with sourdough starter - no commercial yeast whatsoever. They just taste better!!! Dough ingredients: 2 cups whole milk (room temp), 1/3 cup organic sugar, 1/2 stick softened organic unsalted butter, 1 cup active sourdough starter, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, 5 cups King Arthur bread flour, 2 tsp salt. Mix together and knead 8 minutes in the stand mixer. Transfer to bowl, cover and proof overnight for 14 hours.

I’m so grateful for this garden! Things are popping up that I never knew I had - like this Rhubarb. It’s coming up beneath my raspberry bushes so I’ll definitely be making some pies or jam in a few months!

Made a wonderful loaf of whole grain sourdough yesterday. I used whole grain sourdough starter and whole grain flour made from ground wheat berries. I’m grateful to have a VitaMix to grind my own flour. This loaf is very satisfying!
