We are excited to announce that this year’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Paola Tello Guerrero!!

Dr. Guerrero is a Colombian physicist with eleven years of experience working in the energy industry and four involved in the climate sector, in roles related to R&D, project management, business development, and stakeholder engagement.

She currently works at Kayrros, a Greentech powered by satellite data and AI, where she’s co-lead a team developing two products which relate GHG emissions to financial metrics.

She has worked in business development for Energy transition and carbon storage projects, and have also led projects in the field of subsurface characterization, using computer modelling and petrophysics.

In 2017 she was one of 1000 female scientists selected to be part of Homeward Bound, a global network working in climate action.

She is also the founder of Antarctica for the Brave, a philanthropic project for children’s education in climate change adaptation for developing countries.

Hello Everyone!

We hope you all are staying safe, and doing as well as possible at this time. We are writing to inform you of a very difficult decision regarding the annual Scripps Student Symposium. Given the concerns about reducing density on campus, and the uncertainty about how this situation will look over the coming weeks and months, the organizing committee has made the tough call to postpone S^3 for 2020. This decision has been made out of an abundance of caution for the safety of the students and campus community, as well as the safety of other partners/caterers/participants that help us to put together a stimulating day of student-driven science.

We want to preserve the impact and experience that this symposium has for the student body, and appreciate your patience until S^3 2021. We hope to be back and better than ever next year to showcase amazing work being done by our colleagues and peers. Save the date now, for September 22, 2021 when the Scripps Student Symposium will return!

Wishing you all well!
