What Is TDEE? 📊
If you've ever asked...

"How many calories should I eat?"

The answer starts with understanding your TDEE.

TDEE stands for Total Daily Energy Expenditure.

It's the total number of calories your body burns in an average day.

That includes:
🔥 Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)
🚶 Daily movement like walking and chores
🏋️ Exercise
🍽️ The energy it takes to digest food

Your TDEE is one of the most important numbers when creating a nutrition plan.

Generally speaking:

📉 Eat below your TDEE to lose body fat.
⚖️ Eat around your TDEE to maintain your weight.
📈 Eat above your TDEE to support muscle growth.

The key is knowing your starting point—not guessing.

At Fit Societe, we use training and nutrition together because neither works as well on its own.

Understanding your TDEE helps you make informed decisions that support your goals and create long-term progress.

Should You Wear a Weight Belt or Lifting Straps? 🤔
We loved 's perspective on lifting accessories.

Weight belts and lifting straps can absolutely be useful...

But they shouldn't be the first thing you rely on.

First, build the foundation.

💪 Learn to brace your core.
🤲 Develop your grip strength.
🏋️ Practice proper technique.

Then, use equipment when it serves a purpose.

A weight belt can help increase intra-abdominal pressure during heavy lifts.

Lifting straps can help when grip becomes the limiting factor during high-volume pulling exercises.

But if every set depends on them from day one, you may miss opportunities to build the strength your body actually needs.

Use tools to enhance your training—not replace it.

Strong fundamentals always come first.

I wish it were socially acceptable to tell some of my clients that their RPE 10 might actually be an RPE 4, because whenever I tell them to push 10 more reps out, THEY CAN😪 YOU ARE MUCH STRONGER THAN YOU THINK!!!!

Your Body Will Become a Priority... By Choice or By Consequence.
That quote from hits hard.

"Your body is going to become a priority whether that is by choice or consequence."

You can invest in your health now...

Or you'll be forced to later.

As we age, one of the biggest predictors of independence isn't luck.

It's strength.

Can you safely:
✔️ Stand up from a chair?
✔️ Climb stairs?
✔️ Carry groceries?
✔️ Catch yourself if you trip?
✔️ Get up from the floor?

Strength training, balance work, mobility, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness all play a role in maintaining independence as we age.

That's exactly why Fit Societe offers Active Aging classes.

We help adults build the strength and confidence they need to keep doing the things they love—not just today, but decades from now.

The best time to prepare for aging is before you need to.

Future you will thank you.

if you don't like strength training... well.. you should ⬇️

TRY AGAIN

Strength training is the best way to have longevity in your life. As you get older, the ability to increase your muscle mass becomes increasingly harder and harder. So no matter what you do for exercise, you should incorporate some type of strength training.

Front Squats Feel Better After This Core Exercise 💥
Want your front squats to feel stronger and more stable?

Try adding a Pallof Press to your warm-up.

Why?

The Pallof Press teaches your core to resist rotation, creating stability through your trunk before you load a heavy barbell.

A more stable core means:
✅ Better force transfer
✅ Improved posture
✅ More control under the bar
✅ Less energy leaking during heavy lifts

How to perform it:

✔️ Attach a resistance band or cable at chest height.
✔️ Stand sideways to the anchor point.
✔️ Hold the handle at your chest.
✔️ Press your hands straight out while resisting the band's pull.
✔️ Keep your ribs down, core engaged, and hips square.
✔️ Slowly return and repeat.

Think of it as waking up your core before asking it to support a heavy squat.

Sometimes the best way to lift more isn't lifting more—it's preparing better.
