Happy Black History Month! At SDSU, we're committed to honoring the Black community during Black History Month and throughout the year.

As we celebrate Black History Month, we recognize the stories and contributions of those who have shaped SDSU’s legacy. From Henrietta Goodwin (the university’s first Black graduate) to Harold K. Brown (founder of the Afro-American Studies program), their impact continues to inspire generations. Their legacies, along with other Black campus leaders, are captured in a stunning mural located on the first floor of the University Library. Depicted in the mural are Charles Bell, E. Walter Miles, Shirley Weber, Henrietta Goodwin, Amber St. James, Joseph Johnson, and Harold “Hal” K. Brown.
