Advocacy in action: SOMA president talks about what med students want - The DO After making headway in LGBTQ advocacy at her COM, new SOMA president Kate de Klerk, OMS IV, is ready to serve medical students at a higher level.

In light of recent events regarding mental health/illness, I just wanted to share:
- You are not alone in this battle.
- If you feel like you have nobody to talk to, I promise I will personally drop EVERYTHING I'm doing to talk with/meet with you, regardless of if I know you or not (PLEASE feel free to reach out to me). I've been here before. I know.
- Along with the above, if you need help finding a therapist or psychiatrist covered by your insurance provider, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO REACH OUT TO ME. It wouldn't be my first rodeo and I know that the process can be tough.

If you are thinking about su***de, or if you’re concerned for the well-being of someone you know, call UHS to speak with an on-call crisis counselor who will help address your most pressing concerns, assess your safety, and help connect you with follow-up service needs at this number:
608-265-5600 (option 9) - this service is ALWAYS available, including weekends, holidays, semester breaks, and all summer.
- UHS receives calls from not only students, but from family members, partners, friends, roommates, faculty, housing staff, and other campus community members who are concerned about a student.

First of all, thank you to everyone who came out to our first meeting yesterday! We really enjoyed having Dr. Painovich talk about osteopathic medicine in an interactive way and answer all your questions.

Second, I just received a last minute notification that a representative from A.T. Still University will be at Union South today from 3:30-4:30 and wanted to share this information with you! If you have the time it would be a great opportunity to learn about what A.T. Still has to offer :)
