Districts don’t need another initiative. They need a partner who can help them implement what they already believe in.
STEM4Real works with districts, COEs, and organizations ready to build justice-centered, NGSS-aligned STEM systems that actually change classroom experiences and student outcomes.
If you’re leading STEM, equity, instruction, or systems change—and you’re tired of surface-level solutions—this work is for you.

Happy New Year from STEM4Real! 🎉
As we step into this new year, we’re energized by the work ahead and deeply grateful for the partners, educators, and communities who continue to push STEM —rooted in justice, access, and belonging.
✨ Here’s what we’re looking forward to:
1️⃣ Supporting the Science of Reading through STEM phenomena — From Phonemes to Phenomena, leveraging science as a powerful context for literacy, language development, and meaning-making
2️⃣ Partnering with the Intuitive Foundation alongside San Leandro USD, San Lorenzo USD, Hayward USD, and Oakland USD to support high school teachers and CTE medical pathways education
3️⃣ Collaborating with IES, VCU, Richmond Public Schools, and Mt. Diablo USD to deepen middle school science discourse, academic talk, and student sense-making
4️⃣ Working with Solano County Office of Education to advance antiracism and antibias in STEM through leadership learning and instructional design
5️⃣ Continuing our work with elementary schools in Alisal USD and Rialto USD, centering curiosity, identity, and joyful STEM learning from the earliest grades.
🌱 Looking ahead:
Now is the time to plan for Spring 2026. Partner with STEM4Real to get a head start on science and STEM for ALL learners—from curriculum and professional learning to leadership alignment and equity audits. Let’s build systems that last, not one-off initiatives.

✨ This is what systems change looks like.
As a former County Office of Education employee, I couldn’t be more proud to see so many COEs leading the charge at this year’s STEM for ALL Leadership Symposium! 🌍 💡
We’re thrilled to welcome our partners and participants from:
🔹Alameda County Office of Education
🔹Sonoma County Office of Education
🔹Stanislaus County Office of Education
🔹San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools
🔹San Diego County Office of Education
🔹Puget Sound Educational Service District (ESD)
These county teams are not just attending — they are modeling what justice-centered STEM leadership looks like: aligning NGSS, UDL, and Social Justice Standards; amplifying educator voice; and ensuring that STEM is not a privilege, but a promise for every learner.
At STEM4Real, we believe that sustainable change happens when systems move together — when counties, districts, schools, and communities unite under one vision of equity-driven, culturally responsive STEM education.
This isn’t just another conference.
This is a movement for collective impact.
This is STEM for ALL — .

And whatever you do… definitely don’t read page 11 (or swipe to the second slide!)

🌟 STEM with a STEMist: Where Representation Meets Innovation 🌟
It all started with Dinner with a Scientist. 🍽️ Then we thought — what if our participants could actually do science with a scientist? 🔬
But soon, we realized we weren’t just surrounded by scientists. We had engineers, mathematicians, technologists, and innovators — all committed to making STEM accessible, inclusive, and 4Real.
And just like that, STEM with a STEMist was born. ✨
What began as a dinner table conversation has grown into one of our Signature Events at the STEM for ALL Leadership Symposium — a celebration of representation, belonging, and brilliance in every corner of STEM.
This year, we’re honored to feature our 2025 STEMists — a phenomenal group of changemakers redefining what STEM looks like:
🔬 Dr. Tyrone B Hayes – Endocrinologist, UC Berkeley
⚛️ Dr. Crystal Bray – Physicist and AI Technologist, Stanford University
💥Dr. Desiré Whitmore – Physicist, UC Irvine aka “LaserChick”
🌊 Dr. Anaí Novoa– Marine Biologist, UC San Diego
🧪 Dr. Lisa Jones – Chemistry and Biochemistry, UC San Diego
📏 Professor Chad Montgomery – Mathematics, College of Alameda
💻 Dr. Imani Munyaka – Computer Scientist and Engineer, UC San Diego
🔧 Rudy Eliud Escobar – STEM Coordinator, Technologist, Stanislaus County Office of Education
Each one brings a story — of discovery, identity, and belonging — proving that when students see themselves in STEM, their possibilities take flight. 🚀
