Two Geography MS students received awards for their poster presentations at the SDSU Student Symposium (S3) held Friday March 1st.

Elizabeth Bushnell received a Provost’s Award for $200, for her poster titled "Shrinking Coastlines: Use of Uncrewed Aerial Systems to Map and Monitor Rocky Intertidal Habitats."

Brenna Fowler received a Dean's Award, $250, for her poster titled "Utilizing ultra-high spatial resolution drone imagery and satellite spectral vegetation indices (SVI) to study Payments for Ecosystem Services (PES) Zones in Chitwan, Nepal.”

Check out these amazing pictures from the Climate Talk hosted by the Geography Graduate Student Association! The symposium brought together Indigenous leaders and traditional practitioners to discuss their perspectives on climate change and the challenges faced by Indigenous communities. We were honored to provide a forum for Indigenous insights, concerns, and lessons to challenge blind-spots, errors, and exclusions of Western climate science. Thank you to everyone who attended!
