San Diego Children's Choir Discovering the joy and power of music through song. The Choir is open to boys and girls, ages four to 18.

The San Diego Children's Choir was founded by Polly Campbell and was incorporated as a non-profit public benefit corporation in 1990. Rehearsals and performances of fine music literature form the foundation of instruction.

We can’t believe it’s already been 2 weeks since we concluded our second San Diego Youth Choral Festival, we’re still buzzing about the great time had by all. SDCC staff and the festival team at large prepared for over a year to make this another unforgettable experience, and we’re thrilled to say it was a huge success.

Like in 2024, participants from all over the country experienced some of the most exceptional parts of San Diego: the beach, the world famous SD Zoo, Balboa Park, and their home for the week, the stunning University of San Diego.

Guest conductor was absolutely a highlight of the participant experience once again. She leads with compassion, skill and energy and we can’t wait to have her back again!

We were thrilled to perform another new composition by composer Maria Granillo as well, be on the look out for this and other festival videos soon.

Big thanks to the Center for World Music and Omo Aché as well as Kathleen Hansen and Royce Ferguson and Royce’s Voices for fun and informational workshops.

And finally, bravo to the staff, chaperones and conductors of each participating ensemble for managing their groups so beautifully and for being so easy to work with. We hope to see you again before too long!

Our sincere thank you to San Diego County Employees’ Charitable Organization (CECO) for awarding SDCC with a Community Grant! Thanks to their funding, SDCC can provide 30 music educational workbooks to choristers as part of our Ensemble Program. It is a core value of our organization to train our young singers to be competent and independent musicians once they leave our program. An essential component of this value is that they be trained in music reading skills. The “A Young Singer’s Journey” music literacy workbook is used by choristers in our Intermediate, Premier, Chamber, and Youth Chorale choirs (grades 5-12). Choristers receive consistent, scaffolded, comprehensive and differentiated music literacy education through the use of this work book series, and the curriculum covers concepts and skills necessary to become a strong musician. Thanks, CECO, for helping to make this educational component possible!
