Yesterday, Nestor teachers and staff participated in professional development with the San Diego County Office of Education focused on Restorative Practices. Together, we explored strategies to strengthen relationships, build a positive school culture, and create meaningful opportunities for student voice, accountability, and growth.We never stop learning, growing, and improving to create the best possible experience for our students! 🦁

Juntos, exploramos estrategias para fortalecer las relaciones, fomentar una cultura escolar positiva y crear oportunidades significativas para que los estudiantes tengan voz, asuman responsabilidad y desarrollen su crecimiento personal.

Back to School Night Week rolled on with TK, 1st Grade, and 4th Grade! Thank you to all the families who joined us for an evening of connection and learning.

Today was our first School Spirit Day of the school year: Denim Day! 👖

At Nestor, every day begins with purpose during our schoolwide Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) block. This morning, students in Mr. Rosillo’s Advisory class started their day by building connections, strengthening relationships, and preparing for success. After taking time to connect with one another, they seamlessly transitioned into the rigor of their instructional day! 🦁

En Nestor, cada día comienza con propósito durante nuestro bloque escolar de aprendizaje socioemocional (SEL). Esta mañana, los estudiantes de la clase de asesoría del Maestro Rosillo iniciaron su día fortaleciendo conexiones, construyendo relaciones positivas y preparándose para el éxito. Después de tomarse el tiempo para convivir y conectar entre ellos, realizaron una transición natural hacia el rigor y aprendizaje. 🦁

After a few weeks of establishing routines and procedures, learning is now in full swing at Nestor! 🦁

Thank you to Nestor Language Academy Charter School Staff, Students, and Parents for showcasing Nestor’s 90/10 Dual Immersion Program with representatives from Assemblymember David Alvarez’s Office.

Today, we kicked off our PBIS expectations for middle school students! Mr. Gonzalez spoke about what it takes to be successful in middle school and reinforced the expectations that will help students thrive throughout the year. Mrs. Ruvalcaba also introduced the Biliteracy Attainment Recognition program and explained how students can work toward this important achievement on their journey to becoming bilingual and biliterate.

¡Hoy dimos inicio a nuestras expectativas de PBIS para los estudiantes de secundaria! El Director González habló sobre lo que se necesita para tener éxito en la escuela secundaria y reforzó las expectativas que ayudarán a los estudiantes a prosperar durante todo el año. Además, la Maestra Ruvalcaba presentó el programa de reconocimiento de logro de bialfabetización y explicó cómo los estudiantes pueden trabajar para alcanzar este importante reconocimiento en su camino para ser bilingüe en dos idiomas.

Today, we kicked off School Expectations Week with our PBIS Expectations Assemblies for our TK, Kindergarten, 5th, and 6th grade students! Throughout the assemblies, students learned about the importance of strong attendance, arriving at school prepared to learn, and what it means to be respectful, responsible, and safe in every setting at Nestor. From the hallways and classrooms to the cafeteria, playground, and all other campus areas, our students explored the expectations that help create a positive, supportive, and successful learning environment for everyone. ¡Somos Néstor! 🦁

¡Hoy dimos inicio a la semana de expectativas escolares con nuestras asambleas de expectativas PBIS para los estudiantes de TK, Kinder, 5.º y 6.º grado! Durante las asambleas, los estudiantes aprendieron sobre la importancia de una buena asistencia, llegar a la escuela preparados para aprender y lo que significa ser respetuosos, responsables y cautelosos en todos los areas de Nestor. Desde los pasillos y salones de clase hasta la cafetería, el patio de recreo y todas las demás áreas del plantel, nuestros estudiantes exploraron las expectativas que ayudan a crear un ambiente de aprendizaje positivo, solidario y exitoso para todos. ¡SomosNéstor!
