Every third Friday in September is designated POW/MIA Recognition Day. Today is a day to honor and remember the 82,000 Americans that remain missing from conflicts ranging from World War I to present day, in conflicts across the world.

Please take a moment today to remember and honor our brave warriors who have yet to return home.

Over the weekend, we lost one of the most recognizable military veterans in recent history, as John McCain lost his battle with brain cancer. With his passing, America lost a war hero, leader, and a true patriot. Senator McCain dedicated his life to the country he loved. First as a Captain in the Navy, where he chose to stay with his fellow service men when he was captured and held as a POW. Following his military service, he served in several capacities in public service, ultimately serving as a U.S. Senator for the State of Arizona. Through all of this, he maintained a level of class and humility rarely seen in today’s political climate. RIP to a true American patriot, you will be truly missed.

Every June 14, we, as Americans, celebrate Flag Day. The Military Veterans Legal Society would like to take a moment to honor our nation, and our national colors.

"I am what you make me; nothing more. I swing before your eyes as a bright gleam of color, a symbol of yourself.”

-Franklin K. Lane, Secretary of the Interior, 1914

Our fallen service members gave their lives so that we might be free. So, this Memorial Day, we raise our glasses, reflect on their sacrifice, enjoy the freedom and love the nation for which they gave their lives.

“For love of country they accepted death, and thus resolved all doubts, and made immortal their patriotism and their virtue.”

— President James A. Garfield

Former Marine K9 handler and former SDPD officer was a fearless advocate for criminal defendants. He was a believer in honesty, equality, and justice. Cal Western, the Corps, the legal community, and the world have lost a great soul. Rest In Peace brother. Your passion for justice has inspired many to be as fearless and honorable an advocate as you were; you will not be forgotten.

anyone looking for a PAID research project for an attorney after finals?

Scott Dreher is looking for a student who can do some research regarding a constitutional law/ criminal law. The issue is regarding encroachment citations under Mun Code 54.0110 and whether there is a Constitutional equal protection claim for the homeless people who are getting these tickets and often taken to jail because of it.

Scott knows that finals are here, but if anyone is interested in taking on this project after finals, let me know and I will pass on your information.
