WE ARE READY
The countdown is on.
In just 2 weeks, Sheet Metal JATC San Diego is hosting our second annual Heavy Metal Summer Experience Summer Camp and welcoming high school students into the shop for a week of sparks, tools, metal, and hands on projects.
This is not your average summer camp. HMSE offers camps nationwide. The mission: The Heavy Metal Summer Experience exists to inspire students with real-world training showcasing dynamic career opportunities in the skilled trades, and to ensure the continued vitality of the union construction industry.
Students will get real exposure to the sheet metal trade, work alongside industry pros, and walk away with more than memories. Thanks to incredible partners, each student will receive work boots from DEWALT and tools from Milwaukee Tool to help them step into the experience ready to work.
We are fired up to open the doors, get these students building, and show them what a future in the trades can look like.
Let’s get to work.

Hands-on learning makes a difference.
When high school students visit our school, pick up the tools, and get involved in a real project, learning comes to life. And the impact is real: research shows students in project-based learning environments can outperform peers academically while also building collaboration, confidence, and deeper engagement. That’s the power of learning by doing.
