A father. A cybersecurity advocate. A community leader. An aspiring educator.

For Lawrence B., those roles weren't separate from earning his PhD in Technology and Innovation Management specializing in Cybersecurity. They gave it all meaning. As he balanced family, faith, leadership, and doctoral research, he became increasingly interested in how organizations can better navigate risk in a rapidly changing digital world.

Earning his degree was a milestone years in the making. But what stays with him most isn't the title. It's knowing that the knowledge, experience, and perspective he gained can help others grow, too.

His next goal isn't just to lead in the field. It's to helping future cybersecurity professionals build paths of their own. We're proud of all that Lawrence B. has accomplished, and even more excited to see where his curiosity and passion take him next! 💙

✨Meet our ANDer of the Month, Dr. Christina S.✨

Featured in The EDU Ledger, NU alumna Dra. Christina M Sanchez, DBA, MS-HCDL, LSSBB, describes her doctoral journey as proof that circumstances don’t have to determine how far you go.

Christina earned her Doctorate in Business Administration at NU while working full-time, raising her teenage son as a single mother, and caring for her uncle at the end of his life – a reality she shares with millions of Americans in the “sandwich generation,” caring for children and aging family members at the same time.

“This journey changed my life,” she said. “These are the moments where you say to yourself all of these hard moments have been worth it.”

Thank you, Dr. Sanchez, for representing what it means to thrive as an ANDer – a nurse AND a mother, a caregiver AND a scholar, a leader AND so much more.

We're proud to spotlight Eugenie Jones (NU, BBA '92, MBA '93), award-winning Seattle-based jazz vocalist, composer, producer and legacy activist whose career is one of the most remarkable second-act stories we've ever had the privilege of sharing. After building a career in nonprofit marketing and raising a family, Eugenie discovered her voice following the loss of her mother — and hasn't stopped since. Six albums, thirty-two original songs, a Jazz Hero Award, a Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame induction, and a Grammy-contending 2025 release, EUGENIE, that spent 25 weeks on Jazz Week's Top 50 and peaked at #4. Beyond her artistry, she founded the Jackson Street Jazz Walk, honoring Seattle's African American musical heritage, and serves as founding Board President of the Music Discovery Center, providing disadvantaged youth access to music education. A business degree that launched a career. A mother's voice that launched a calling. We're so proud to celebrate her.
