ATTENTION GRADUATING SENIORS: Please join us on the morning of Friday May 10 for the Sociology Department's Commencement! The ceremony will be held in Montezuma Hall from 9:30 am - 11:00 am, a few hours before the larger College of Arts and Letters Commencement.

This is a time to gather with your faculty and classmates to celebrate your years together! If you attend our ceremony, you will receive a special sociology department cord that you can then wear to the ceremony for the College of Arts & Letters.

The Pacific Sociological Association held its annual conference over the weekend, and SDSU's Sociology Department was well represented. We couldn't be more excited about the quality of research coming from our students and faculty! The following meetings were hosted by those within our department:

Dr. Neftalie Williams of the Sociology Department and the Center for Skateboarding, Action Sports, and Social Change presented at this year's SDSU Leadership Summit Conference alongside keynote speakers and high-profile skateboarders Amelia Brodka & Kanten Russell.

The theme of this year's conference was "Leadership in Motion," and it focused on capturing the essence of progress and adaptability in leadership and steering through challenges, pivoting swiftly, and carving unique paths.

The Department of Sociology is proud to announce that Dr. Charlene Holkenbrink-Monk was recently selected as a Fulbright Scholar! She will be performing postdoctoral research at the University of Malaga in Spain.
