The Aztec Student Union provides SDSU students, faculty, staff and visitors with a state-of-the-art environment to study, socialize, dine and relax.

The Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union, or Union for short, is your home away from home and the community center for the campus. It was made possible by former SDSU students who voted to build an all new LEED Double Platinum student union. As part of the project, the university is pursuing LEED Platinum certification with the U.S. Green Building Council – a distinction that makes the building the f

irst LEED Platinum-certified facility in the entire Cal State University system. The Union is entirely student-fee funded and receives no State funding. Known as the campus "living room," the Union is a space for us to study, socialize, meditate, connect, relax and reboot. Architecturally, the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union is a classic "mission revival" design that pays tribute to the rich history of San Diego State University. In keeping with the classic design, the building features expansive, arches, arcades, balconies and courtyards. Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union replaces Aztec Center, the first student union in the California State University system. Opened in 1968, Aztec Center served a student population of approximately 10,000 students. Aztec Center’s mission was based on the Association of College Unions International’s statement, "The Role of the College Union." Today, "The Role of the College Union," is the foundation of the Union’s mission. It is the impetus for rebuilding the student union to meet the growing needs of the campus community and to provide quality facilities and services for 21st-century students. Upon opening, the Union served 34,000 students in the 2013-14 academic year. This 200,891-square-foot student union provides an energized hub of campus life for the entire Aztec community. The building will be twice the size of Aztec Center and will house recreation facilities, meeting spaces, study lounges and the University Information Center. Students are able to enjoy three new dining facilities with outdoor seating, a convenience store, retail services for travel, as well as a grill restaurant. Additionally, the building will hold a new student organization center offering commuter and graduate student lounges, as well as an the Center for Intercultural Relations (CIR).

Happy finals season! In order to help you all crush it at finals, we have extended study room hours and are providing free snacks! 🍫📚 From Tuesday, Dec 13 to Monday, Dec 19, rooms will be available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The student lounge on the first floor will also have extended hours from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. — Happy studying!
