Inaugurated at the dawn of a new century, Sixth College prepares our students to become dynamic and engaged citizens of the 21st century—innovative, creative and interconnected. Our core academic programs develop skills in both traditional and emergent media literacy, emphasizing essential writing fundamentals as well as the latest forms of digital communication. In the Culture, Art and Technology sequence of courses, our students acquire innovative interdisciplinary approaches that they will need in a rapidly evolving world. Our Practicum is a unique upper-division requirement that promotes civic engagement and global consciousness, and embodies the College’s commitment to active, experiential learning. The Practicum provides a wonderful opportunity for students to integrate theory and practice by making connections between classroom learning and community experiences. Sixth College is also unique in offering an upper-division writing requirement, designed to assist students in preparing their professional portfolios and refining their presentation skills as they prepare to enter the post-graduate world. The themes of Culture, Art and Technology are built into all of our extra-curricular and residential programs, and reinforce our commitment to experiential learning. Despite our young age, Sixth College has already established a rich and vibrant history of student activities, including Winter Gamefest (a weekend-long festival of computer gaming), Chocolate Festival (a day of gourmet delights), Spirit of the Masters (an artistic extravaganza), and Let It Flow (an evening of spoken slam poetry). Our Students Affairs and Residential Life staff members represent an outstanding and caring resource to promote student involvement and to cultivate a welcoming and diverse community. In all the student services we offer at the College—advising, counseling, and leadership training—the paramount aim is to provide a learning community that is nurturing and stimulating, while equipping our students to face the challenges that lie ahead.

To wrap up our 2026 Orientation Team introductions, meet our final Hello Kitty Lead Team members: Katie Perullo, Britney Nguyen-Bui, and Joshua Chaidez! 🎉

Katie Perullo is a Senior New Student Program Specialist who has been working at UC San Diego for over five years. She holds degrees in both engineering and education and is originally from New Jersey. A fun fact about Katie is that she ran a marathon!

Britney Nguyen-Bui is a third-year Orientation Intern majoring in Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy & Management Sciences and a minor in Business. Her involvements include Sixth College Student Council, Sigma Kappa Sorority, Student Health Advocates, Kesem, and working with Intercollegiate Athletics.

Joshua Chaidez is a first-generation, third-year Orientation Intern majoring in Business Psychology. His involvements include serving as Vice President Internal for Sixth College Student Council and serving as a Programming Intern for the Multicultural Living Learning Community (MCLLC).

To kick off our Lead Team introductions, meet our Hello Kitty Senior Orientation Leaders: Michelle Tran, Sirirack Sukhaseum, and Vienna Nguyen! 🎉

Michelle Tran is a first-generation, fourth-year Senior Orientation Leader majoring in Bioengineering: Biotechnology with a minor in General Biology. Her involvements include the Christman Lab and Engineering World Health.

Sirirack Sukhaseum is a commuter and Senior Orientation Leader who graduated with a degree in International Business and a minor in Global Health. Her involvements include the Laotian American Student Association (LASA), Women in Business, and an internship with the American Red Cross.

Vienna Nguyen is a commuter, fourth-year Senior Orientation Leader majoring in Human Developmental Sciences. Her involvements include Camp Kesem, the Human Development Student Association (HDSA), and the Speech, Physical, & Occupational Therapy (SPOT) Club.

Ben Dinero is a commuter, fourth-year Returning Orientation Leader majoring in Music with an emphasis in Technology. His involvements include Out The Archive, Kaibigang Pilipino, Price Center Event Services, and multiple campus bands.

Miso Koo is an international, third-year Orientation Leader majoring in Molecular and Cell Biology. Her involvements include Saltman Quarterly (SQ), the Biological Sciences Student Association (BSSA), the Sixth College Ambassador Program, and the STEM-Visit Outreach Program.

Vivi In is a first-generation, third-year Orientation Leader majoring in Cognitive & Behavioral Neuroscience. Their involvements include Sixth College Student Council, Cambodian Student Association, Triton Community Leadership Institute, and at the UCSD Skaggs School of Pharmacy.

Daanya Hussain is a commuter, third-year Returning Orientation Leader majoring in Biology with a specialization in Bioinformatics. Her involvements include BioScholars Honors, Sprout Up, Student Health Advocates (SHA), and MSA.

Kalani Daniel is a fourth-year Orientation Leader majoring in Bioengineering. His involvements include Engineering World Health and the Triathlon Team.

Varnika Seth is an international, fourth-year Orientation Leader majoring in Cognitive Behavioral Neuroscience and Economics. Her involvements include Lumnus Consulting, the Cognitive Science Student Association, and Sixth College Student Council.

Aerin Garcia is a second-year Orientation Leader majoring in Structural Engineering. Her involvements include the Society of Civil and Structural Engineers (SCSE), Steel Bridge Project Team, and Society of Women Engineers (SWE).

Architha Dhavala is a transfer, fourth-year Orientation Leader majoring in Biology with a specialization in Bioinformatics and a minor in Computer Science. To finish up our introductions, meet the rest of our Kuromi Hub Group: Lizbeth Sotelo, Samantha Fuentes, and Shabdika Gubba! 🎉

Lizbeth Sotelo is a first-generation, fourth-year Returning Orientation Leader majoring in Business Economics with a minor in Finance.

Samantha Fuentes is a first-generation, third-year Orientation Leader double majoring in Media Industries Communications and Public Policy. Her involvements include REACH, KSDT Radio Station, the International Studies Student Association (ISSA), the Student Advisory Council for UCSD Libraries, Birch Aquarium, and The Loft and Amphitheater.

Shabdika Gubba is a commuter, fourth-year Orientation Leader majoring in Bioengineering: Bioengineering with a minor in General Biology. Her involvements include Engineering World Health, International Health Collective, Undergraduate Bioinformatics Club, and IDEA Scholars.
