Life’s lessons play out on the chess board That first chess lesson in an after-school program lifted Mario Amodeo, and it was noticeable.

Yesterday we had a field trip to the Birch Aquarium and saw the dive show in the Kelp Forest tank...today we went to the Cabrillo National Monument. Needless to say (but I am going to say it anyway) the kids all had a great time. Thus concludes the Presidents' Camp 2012. Next week the after-school schedule resumes. Have a great weekend!

Today we went to the movies and enjoyed watching "The Secret World of Arrietty."
Afterwards we had pizza and some rec time before classes started back up.

Great educational field trip to the San Diego Japanese Friendship Garden. The children learned about Zen gardens and participated in Japanese cultural activities. The kids learned a lot and had fun in doing so!

Today's field trip was a success! We visited the Japanese Friendship Garden at Balboa Park. The children learned about the seven characteristics of a Zen garden in class before we departed from GCA. At the Japanese Friendship Garden the kids were able to experience, first hand, the characteristics they learned about. The girls were also able to dress in kimonos and everyone had fun with origami, mask making and a chopstick dexterity context. Pictures will be posted soon!
