These weekly actions have gone on for nearly a year... because our students, families, & communities continue to be impacted. This is an education issue, a labor issue, a democracy issue, & a human issue.

81% of educators say our salaries aren't keeping up with rising costs. 93% are spending our own money to support students. And 4 in 10 are thinking about leaving the profession, nearly half citing financial strain.

California is the fourth largest economy in the world. Public school teachers shouldn't struggle to live in the communities we serve.

It's official. Our campaign to protect California school funding is now YES on Prop 3, on the November ballot.

Prop 3 keeps the wealthiest Californians paying their share so our public schools get the funding our students deserve. Without it, our public schools face a devastating 15% budget cut.

We worked to get it on the ballot. Now we take that same energy to November.

This win is a direct result of our collective pressure as union educators. 💪 Together we are stronger, and we can't give up our fight for EVERYTHING our students & educators need & deserve!

We Won Paid Pregnancy Leave!

Starting January 1, 2027, California's school staff will have up to 14 weeks of PAID pregnancy disability leave. We fought hard for this and we did it together. Every one of us who shared our story, gathered signatures or showed up at the Capitol to fight for this leave made this happen. This legislation will transform the lives of California families for generations and we won it together.

Four times, California voters have rejected attempts to strip them of an elected State Superintendent. Now Gov. Newsom is trying again. This time he's bypassing the normal policy process, with no Senate hearing. This isn't just undemocratic. It removes critical checks and balances and threatens stability in our schools and classrooms.

Our students and families deserve a voice in how our schools are governed.

Our union siblings at EJE Academies in El Cajon are still fighting for their FIRST union contract... including fighting for basic protections that educators have in non-charter public schools across the state, like protection from being fired without cause. (In fact, administration recently declined to renew the contract of a longtime educator who has been vocally supportive of unionization efforts.)

If you can, wear blue and show up with EJE educators this afternoon, June 29 @ 4 PM, in front of the school - they're rallying before their board meeting to show support for ongoing negotiations!
