Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week is coming up May 4–8, and we’re excited to celebrate the incredible teachers and staff who make Hearst Elementary such a welcoming and supportive place for our students.

We would love your help in making this a truly meaningful week for everyone!

Ways Families Can Get Involved

🛍️ Amazon Gift Cards for Teachers & Staff
Families are invited to send an Amazon gift card (any amount) to their classroom teachers and their classroom support staff. Some classes choose to do another gift idea from the class so an Amazon gift card for the teachers is just a suggestion in case your teacher has other gift preferences. Some do a gift tree and suggest multiple sources and others like the convenience with electronic cards
We want to ensure our amazing Hearst staff members who are not classroom teachers (office staff, custodial staff, aides, specialists, etc.) feel equally appreciated and don’t feel left out!
👉 Our goal is for each supporting staff member to receive at least three gift cards. Families / Classrooms can “adopt” a Hearst staff member by signing up using this spreadsheet: HEARST STAFF EMAIL LIST APPRECIATION WEEK.xlsx - Google Sheets

🍎 Help Restock the Staff Lounge
We’re hoping to refresh the Staff Lounge with snacks and treats so staff can enjoy a little pick‑me‑up all week long.
Families can contribute items from the Staff Lounge Wish List to help support teachers and staff throughout the week.
Room parents; if you have class funds that you would like to use to contribute to this effort, it would be appreciated as well!
Please know that every note, snack, kind message, or gift (big or small) helps make this week special. Participation is always optional and deeply appreciated.

We're excited to share that 5th Grade is hosting a fundraiser with the legendary See's Candies to help support the promotion celebration at the end of May. A portion of the proceeds (up to 50% of the profit) will go back to Hearst's 5th grade class to help make the end-of-year festivities extra special.

On Saturday, December 6 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM, the Hearst Elementary 5th grade class will be participating in The Brew Farmer’s Market
📍 6101 Lake Murray Blvd., La Mesa

These talented students will be hosting a booth featuring handmade jewelry, cards, and creative gifts. All proceeds will support their 5th grade promotion and end-of-year activities!

Throughout the morning, Hearst 5th graders will also be performing on the market stage — music, singing, instrumentals. 🎤🎶 Come enjoy young talent, grab some treats, and soak in the festive energy!

PLUS — the market features amazing local vendors, small businesses, and holiday finds. A perfect way to shop local and enjoy a family-friendly morning!
