Please help USD’s Military and Veterans Program better understand the current military-connected student experience, both inside and outside the classroom. Your feedback lets us know how we can better meet your needs.😇

Additionally, your feedback will directly influence the USD’s potential new, Military-Connected Center of Excellence (MCCE), which would expand the services MVP provides. The data gained from the Survey will be used to inform the programs, offices, and resources to better support a large and growing military-connected population.
The Survey should take about 10 minutes, and the information you provide will be kept confidential.

📢 Four participants in this Survey will be selected to receive a $150 Visa gift card, a $100 Amazon gift card, and one of two $50 Campus Cash cards. 📢

This Women’s History Month, as we reflect on the achievements of women across the military services who continue to fight for equality in our defense organizations. We also honor our military dependents, which include daughters, wives, and caretakers, for their contributions to the military-connected community.

As stated by the White House in their Proclamation of Women's Month 2022, Women’s History Month provides an opportunity to honor the generations of trailblazing women and girls who have built our Nation, shaped our progress, and strengthened our character as a people.

Despite hardship, exclusion, and discrimination, women have strived and sacrificed for equity and equality in communities across the country. Women of the military are no exception and continue to blaze trails for others to follow in behind them.

As the US President stated in his 2022 Proclamation on National Black History Month, “Across the generations, countless Black Americans have demonstrated profound moral courage and resilience to help shape our Nation for the better…In the face of wounds and obstacles older than our Nation itself, Black Americans can be seen in every part of our society today, strengthening and uplifting all of America.”

This rings especially true for Black Americans serving in the US military who have shaped our country since its beginning. From the thousands of Black soldiers, both slaves as well as free, from all 13 colonies, who fought in the Continental Army during America’s war for independence from Great Britain, to the segregated units, such as the Tuskegee Airmen and 761st Tank Battalion and the lesser-known, but equally distinguished 452nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion, whose service lead to desegregation of all U.S. armed forces by order of President Harry S. Truman in July 1948.

Firsts for Black Americans continue through the present day with the 2009 nomination of our nation’s first Black Commander in Chief, the 2020 appointment of the first African-American chief of a United States military service branch, General Charles Q. Brown Jr. (Air Force), and the 2021 appointment of Lloyd James Austin III, a retired United States Army four-star general to serve as the 28th United States secretary of defense.
