Professor Ratnesh Lal holds joint professorships in mechanical engineering, materials science, and bioengineering at UC San Diego and previously directed the Center of Nanomedicine at the University of Chicago. With a PhD in neurobiology and several patents for medical nanodevices, his work spans physics, neuroscience, nanoscience, and global health technology.
