Happy Monday Families π This week we encourage you to see the many possibilities in your child and in your parenting β¨οΈ
Due to the structures and systems we must deal with, we are often guided to focus on our children's challenges. Instead, let's take some time to intentionally celebrate their strengths π
Your child's brain thinks differently, and that difference is beautiful and beneficial to the world πβΎοΈ

Happy y'all π₯³ We had such a great time connecting with the community last year at the San Diego Regional Center (SDRC) Resource Fair.
We can't wait for this year's event, Saturday 9/26/26 at the San Diego Convention Center.
The SDRC Resource Fair brings together self-advocates, their families, community partners, and service providers to learn about and explore meaningful choices πβΎοΈ

Are your child's IEP goals S.M.A.R.T π€??
Hey Everyone ππ½ This month we're discussing how to maximize a child's IEP through their present levels and goals.
The term S.M.A.R.T. refers to specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.
At minimum, IEP π― goals should be measurable and time-bound. A goal should focus on specific behaviors, skills, etc. which will be measured across a number of trials, days, etc.
Here's an example: "Jacey will create a 3-paragraph written assignment related to ocean animals or other marine life themes, given graphic organizers and a model of a completed assignment with a clear introduction and conclusion, in 4 of 5 trials, as measured by teacher rubrics, rating scales, etc."
If you have concerns, discuss this with the IEP team. If needed, you can also meet to revise goals during the school year based on student progress πππ
If you need help developing S.M.A.R.T goals, just let us know. Always cheering you on ππ½ ~ The Sanford Autism Advocacy Group π§ [email protected] or π² 619.403.9097
