Gunner's version of SOTM S2- July!

A note on Gunner's video- He's a busy kid so we haven't been seeing each other very regularly, but despite that he always had no problem playing along to this song at lessons. His parts were very improvisational, yet he always operated within the structure of the song. In other words, even though his parts were a little different each time he played them, they always worked because he was aware of the song's structure and always supported each section with what he was playing. He also had little ideas and phrases that he'd play each time, which let me know that even though he was making a lot of it up as he went, he clearly had some set ideas that he was anchoring everything off of.
You might be wondering how Gunner was able to improvise such a seemingly intricate drum part to the song, and that's the main reason why I'm highlighting his video. GRID BEATS. He's able to do it because of my Grid Beats system. His video is a perfect example of how those beats can give you the ability to play really cool things with seemingly little effort. When I told him that he's the first person to use them the way they're meant to be used, he said that he doesn't think about them at all when he's playing, AND THAT'S EXACTLY HOW IT SHOULD BE. You practice the beats so that your body gets used to playing the combinations, and that allows your body to simply react when you're playing to music.
Great job dude!
