The Aerospace Engineering Department at San Diego State University degree in Aerospace Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

The Aerospace Engineering program at SDSU is a well-established, and internationally recognized program. The department has eight full time faculty members, three part-time faculty members and two staff members. The Department) offers Bachelor of Science(B.S) in Aerospace Engineering, Master of Science (M.S.) degree (jointly with UCSD) in Engineering Sciences with concentration in Mechanical and A

erospace Engineering. The Department excels in research and teaching in traditional and modern Aerospace Engineering. It has exceptional facilities, like state-of-the-art low speed and high-speed wind tunnels and water tunnels, and large computer clusters. Principal areas of research activity include aerodynamic design, computational aerodynamics, jet and rocket propulsion, fundamental fluid dynamics, aeroelasticity, composite structures and structural optimization. The Department enjoys strong connections with the large, local aerospace industry in San Diego, including Northrop Grumman, General Atomics, Goodrich Aerostructures, Lockheed Martin, Solar Turbines, and US Navy Air Command (NAVAIR). Our curriculum provides students with a sound background in analytical and numerical aspects. Students have opportunities to develop practical skills through participation in course projects, thesis research, industrial projects, and internships offered by local aerospace companies. SDSU aerospace engineering students actively participate in national level design-build-test competitions, and technical paper contests. SDSU students are well rounded in their preparation and are highly sought after by employers. Alumni of this department have proven that the education they receive at SDSU helps be successful in today's industries.
