Hello everyone! The bookstore was not going to re-order Alta Gracia this year so we had to put pressure on them to do so, and they finally are! I am doing a little market research at the moment, does anybody remember how much sweat shirts and long sleeve shirts were?
Support "Sweat-Free" Apparel at the SDSU Bookstore
SDSU USAS is an organization of students fighting for economic and social justice at our school.
We are a group of students committed to combating sweat shop practices in the garment industry. One step we can take is increasing the amount of "sweat-free" apparel our own SDSU bookstore provides, to support that which is made under ethical conditions. Alta Gracia is a factory in the Dominican Republic that is committed to paying a living wage and a proper working environment to its employees. P

In a couple of weeks, hundreds of student activists from around the country will come together in Madison, WI to write the next chapter in our movement’s history. As we countdown to the National Conference, I wanted to make sure you saw this fantastic new article celebrating fifteen years of USAS history and victories.

As Occupy has made economic inequality part of mainstream political conversation, our national network is stronger than ever, coming off a year of impressive victories in which we beat back tuition hikes, kicked union-busting corporations and their defenders off campus, and fought alongside food service workers who won unions on over ten campuses. We're poised to make 2012 an even bigger year for students and workers.
Van-loads of student organizers are driving 18+ hours to Madison from Texas, Florida, Boston and beyond to return to the site of the Capitol occupation last Spring that inspired us all to escalate the fight on our campuses against corporate control of our economy. We’re coming together, ready to take bold action to take back our economy from the 1%, and we want you to join us in Madison.
Not in school? Help a student get to Madison; make a contribution for travel scholarships and help train a generation of leaders to fight for a better world.
I can't wait to see you in Madison!

Flyers will be available Thurs, to generate awareness of the apparel, aka this is our attempt at our own grassroots advertising.
For all who’ve participated this semester, we really appreciate the dedication, ideas and progress you’ve help make possible! The fact that our bookstore is placing orders for more merchandise should make all feel a sense of accomplishment for your efforts.
We look forward to continuing this lifted energy into the next semester, with hopes of passing the torch so that you are able to make an even greater contribution in the Fall semester purchase! What we do on our campus creates an impact in the entire lives of those in the D.R. working at Alta Gracia. That is by far, no little deed. Let’s keep it going!
