Ridge to Reef / Del Mar a las Montañas coordinators, Samantha and Gladys, met with teachers today to plan activities for the upcoming school year. One theme we're toying with would cover aquaponics in the classroom. .
Do you have any cool ideas for workshops or student projects?

Wow! Thank you all for following Del Mar a las Montañas/Ridge to Reef Program. We went from 18 follows to a whopping 800 follows in just two days! This is exactly the kind of support that we need to know that all of you care and are interested in community based environmental education and raising awareness about the most endangered marine mammal on the planet, the vaquita porpoise. Please keep sharing and thanks for your support!
Ridge to Reef is a community-based conservation program initiated by San Diego Zoo Global, in collaboration with Mexican residents and organizations, to provide participatory and place-based education strategies, relevant conservation information, and methods to engage the community in conservation.

The results of the 21st environmental competition, “Ocean to Table" are in!
As part of the community-based program, Ridge to Reef, San Diego Zoo partnered with NGO Intercultural Center for the Study of Deserts and Oceans (CEDO) for its second year. Middle and high schools students investigated and proposed
sustainable fisheries solutions in their communities in the upper Gulf of California, Mexico. An awards ceremony and cultural festival to exhibit projects and announce winners was held in Puerto Penasco, Mexico. 300 people attended, including teachers, students, government, and community. 40 participating students and teachers from San Felipe
traveled to Puerto Penasco to present their projects, winning 1st and 2nd place. Winners will be supported in implementing projects and visit protected areas and the San Diego Zoo.
