We are a free drop-in tutoring center for SDSU students! The Math & Stats Learning Center completed its first year during the 2015-2016 Academic Year.

The total number of visits increased 98% from 2,880 in the fall of 2015 to 5,711 in the spring of 2016. The number of students served is expected to continue to rise as students become more familiar with our various services (e.g., walk in help 6-days per week, workshops, early intervention, and, in the future, on-line tutoring). The center has posted excellent results showing student success. Th

Last Friday we hosted the Second Annual Peer-Led Learning Summit! 🎉

Tutors, SI leaders, and peer educators from across campus came together for a day of community building, professional development, and conversations about the future of peer learning.

The summit featured a keynote panel with Dr. James Frazee and AI Faculty and student fellows, who led a thought-provoking discussion titled “Belonging, Trust, and Transformation: The Role of Peer Educators in an AI-Augmented University.” The panel explored how emerging AI tools are shaping higher education and emphasized the important role peer educators play in fostering trust, supporting student learning, and creating a sense of belonging in an evolving academic environment.

The summit also featured presentations and workshops led by Hajir Al Obaidi, Janelle Attiq, Dr. Sloan Zak, and Hannah Friesen, who shared insights on tutoring practices, independent learning strategies, and supporting students in an evolving academic landscape. Their sessions highlighted the impact of peer educators and provided practical approaches for strengthening tutoring, writing support, and STEM learning in the age of emerging technologies.

A big thank you to everyone who attended, presented, and helped make this event possible!

AI tools can be helpful study aids—but they can’t replace real, subject-specific learning.

Understanding concepts, asking questions, and getting feedback early can make a big difference in how confident you feel going into exams.

At the MSLC, our tutors help you work through your class material, explain the “why,” and support you throughout the semester—not just during exam week.

Start early. Come often. We’re here to help ❤️🖤
