Meet Sophie Taganov, an outstanding Grade 8 Honors student at RSM San Diego!
This year, Sophie earned Second Place and Honor Roll of Distinction recognition in the AMC 8, won a Bronze Medal in the International Mathematics Competition, and received Team Winner and Honor Roll in the Noetic Learning Math Contest (Fall and Spring).
Sophie shares that RSM has helped her become more confident in math and prepared her to take more advanced classes at school. What she loves most about math is that even the most complicated problems often have a simple and satisfying solution once you discover the right idea.
She especially enjoys math competitions because they challenge her to think creatively and search for clever tricks. For Sophie, there’s nothing more rewarding than finally solving a tough problem after working through the challenge.
We are so proud of Sophie’s hard work, determination, and passion for mathematics. Congratulations on an incredible year of achievement!

“Tonight we are recognizing awards, scores, and competition achievements . But more than that, we are celebrating a mindset.” — Olga Voronel, RSM Southern California Regional Director. At our End-of-the-Year Award Ceremony and Math Festival, we celebrated far more than medals, trophies, and test scores. We celebrated passion, talent, perseverance, growth, hard work, and patience. Most importantly, we celebrated our incredible students and everything they have accomplished this year. We also recognized the teachers who inspire and guide their students every day, and the parents whose encouragement and support make every achievement possible. Together, we celebrated a community that continues to grow bigger, stronger, and closer with each passing year. We have countless reasons to celebrate, and we are grateful to everyone who makes our community so special and may the Math Force be with us!
