The answer is simple. Montessori Primary is planned as a three-year cycle, not three separate school years.
In the first two years, children spend a lot of time working with the Montessori materials and learning through hands-on experiences. By the third year, those lessons begin to click. Children no longer rely on the materials in the same way because they understand the ideas behind them. That's when you'll often see them solving maths problems in their heads or reading with much greater confidence.
The third year is also when many children become the leaders of the classroom. They use peer-to-peer mentoring and help younger classmates with answering questions and setting an example through their daily work. They solidify advanced concepts in their work and build unshakable confidence. That experience builds confidence in a way that can't be rushed.
Every child grows at their own pace, but completing the full three-year Primary cycle gives them the opportunity to experience every stage of the Montessori classroom before moving on.

Our approach to discipline is based on guidance rather than punishment.
Instead of using time-outs, we help children understand the natural consequences of their actions. Our Guides take the time to talk through situations, encourage problem-solving, and show children how to express themselves with words.
Children learn a great deal by watching the adults around them, so role modelling is an important part of our classrooms. If aggression occurs, a child is removed from the situation so everyone remains safe, and our Guides help them work through what happened in a calm and respectful way.

Leaving Lifetime Montessori is one of the hardest parts of our move. The school has provided an incredible foundation for our daughter, helping her grow into a confident, independent, compassionate, and capable child. We've seen her develop important life skills, problem-solving abilities, and a genuine love of learning that she brings home every day.
The teachers and staff create a warm, nurturing environment where children truly thrive, and the parent workshops have been an invaluable resource for our family. We are deeply grateful for the care, guidance, and peace of mind Lifetime Montessori has given us. We wholeheartedly recommend this exceptional school to any family. ~ Lauren

Our Guides observe each child throughout the day. They keep detailed records of new lessons, concentration, repetition, and mastery of skills, allowing them to introduce the next lesson when the child is ready.
We also document each child's journey through work records, portfolios, and regular communication with families. Our Toddler program uses Procare for daily updates, while our Primary and Elementary programs use Montopia to share important developmental milestones. Photos and videos from the classroom also give families a window into their child's learning and growth.
