One of the greatest gifts my eating disorder recovery & autism discovery gave me was CONNECTION with other neurodivergent people. Which is why I’m so excited to be a speaker at the 10-day DIVERGE summit hosted by Patrick Casale | AuDHD + Chronic Illness and Gabrielle - Burnout Coach + Business Consultant!

This is pre-recorded, self-paced, virtual experience built on conversations with neurodivergent business owners, coaches, authors, podcasters, and creatives talking about the biggest lessons learned on working WITH your neurodivergent brain rather than against it.

Every session has captions, transcripts, and an audio-only option so you can consume the content however works best for you.

The summit runs August 24-Sept 4, 2026 and it’s completely FREE to attend. There’s also a VIP ticket that gives you lifetime access to all sessions beyond the 10-day summit window, loads of bonus resources, and supports the neurodivergent creators who made this summit possible.

Something I haven’t talked about much on here is my entrepreneurial/author journey outside of my autistic experience of eating disorders.

Writing has been a passion of mine since I was little, and I’m so grateful to have built a business that’s founded on this love.

While my writing is driven by my desire to connect and contribute (I call it my “soul pull”!), of course I think it’s wonderful that I get to make money from my books.

As much as it sucks, we do all need money to live comfortably. And for neurodivergent people, that can often be a real barrier.

This is why I’m very grateful to be one of the 23+ speakers at DIVERGE, a virtual summit founded on conversations with neurodivergent business owners, coaches, authors, podcasters, and creatives about how to leverage your neurodivergence to support a life of freedom 🙏

“But don’t you want to live a full life?”

I was asked this question countless times throughout ED treatment.

The truth is that I DID want a full life...but I didn’t believe “ED recovery” would give it to me.

Instead, I believed that recovery would leave me empty. I believed that shedding myself of the ED mask would reveal how “broken” I was. How incapable I was of living in this world.

If I gave up all the time I spent grocery shopping, looking up recipes, counting calories, thinking about food, weighing food, preparing food, cleaning up food, and doing everything else that has to do with food, what would replace this?

If I gave up all the routines I had around exercise – walking, running, planning when I would next go off to the bathroom to do secret workouts, and constantly setting new “precedents” which insidiously led to an increasing amount of movement – what would replace this?

I was so afraid that if I stopped engaging with “ED behaviors,” I would be faced with existential emptiness. And there’s nothing more terrifying than being confronted with the most fundamental questions about WHY we even exist.

If you relate, you’re not going to want to miss my upcoming Discovery Talk! It’s called “Compulsive” Exercise or Adaptive Exercise? and in it, you’re going to learn how to create your UNIQUE version of movement freedom.

We’re live on Tuesday 4 August at 6pm CET and the VIP session (includes Q&A + hot seat coaching) is Wednesday 5 August at the same time! Grab your tickets at livlabelfree.com/exercise 🔥

Something that really grinds my gears is when “recovery influencers” (idk what else to call them, lol) say “you have to disconnect food and exercise in your brain.”

While I get where they’re coming from – exercise shouldn’t be a prerequisite to eating – the reality is a lot more nuanced.

As I don’t have to tell you, food is energy. And when we move more, we use more energy. So biologically speaking, more energy expenditure requires more energy intake.

As an AuDHD person, I’ve always needed lots of movement to regulate myself. However, during my eating adaptation, my movement urges spiraled into a very unhealthy relationship with exercise.

ED treatment was all about COMPLETE rest, and even standing was labeled an “ED behavior”!

When I got out of treatment and continued on my recovery journey, I kept reading the same advice:

👉 You must stop ALL exercise in ED recovery
👉 Pacing is an “ED behavior” that must be eliminated
👉 If movement doesn’t feel joyful, it’s “compulsive”

The problem with these blanket statements is that they don’t account for your neurodivergent nervous system. In my upcoming Discovery Talk, you’ll learn how to create a relationship with movement that works WITH your neurodivergence rather than against it.

Now, as someone who has an aligned relationship with movement, I still move a lot. In fact, I move MORE now than I did during anorexia! But the difference is that I also EAT way more.

Which means that no, I have not “disconnected food and exercise in my brain” because I understand that one fuels the other. And the foundation of the discovery journey is learning to fuel a life where you feel safe enough to be yourself 💗

The talk is Tuesday 4 August @ 6pm CET and if you purchase the VIP Access Pass, you can join our Q&A + hot seat coaching call on Wednesday 5 August at the same time!

Like many people with anorexia, I have always loved food. So for me, increasing my intake was never the hardest part of recovery. In fact, I was overjoyed that I could eat more!

But because eating more triggered fear of weight gain, I became even more obsessed with my exercise routines. Trying to maintain the “perfect balance” of calories in vs calories out caused me to stay stuck in quasi recovery for many years.

If I followed the traditional recovery advice to stop all movement cold-turkey, how would that affect my hunger and fullness? My energy? Besides, if I completely stopped, what if I lost all my motivation to move and became a couch potato?

Creating my unique version of movement freedom required me to STOP following traditional recovery frameworks that don’t account for neurodivergence. It required me to pave my own path; one that honored my nervous system and autonomy.

If you want to learn how you can create a relationship with exercise that feels truly aligned, save your seat in my upcoming Discovery Talk!

It’s called “Compulsive” Exercise or Adaptive Exercise? and it’s happening on Tuesday 4 August at 6pm CET. There’s also the option to buy a VIP ticket, which includes a live Q&A and hot seat coaching session on Wednesday 5 August!

A question I’m often asked is “How do I know if my urge to exercise is rooted in autism or the eating disorder?”

My response? It’s rooted in BOTH.

Firstly, we must remember that eating “disorders” are adaptations. The adaptation itself is rooted in autism. It represents a desperate attempt to create safety in, and make sense of, a world built for neurotypicals.

Through this lens, we see the eating adaptation not as a “comorbidity,” but as a manifestation of unaccommodated neurodivergence.

So the question “is the movement coming from the autism or the ED?” keeps us stuck because there is no concrete distinction.

The point of discovery is not to eliminate behaviors, but to give them a new manifestation. In the context of exercise, the goal is not to eliminate the movement urge, but to CHANNEL it. We must give the fight-or-flight energy a new outlet.

In my upcoming Discovery Talk, I guide you to creating a relationship with movement that aligns with your neurodivergent nervous system. Not by forcing yourself to rest, not by taking “opposite action,” and not by “surfing the urge.”

What you’ll walk away with (pun intended)👇

✅ A radical reframe in how you understand movement so you can stop fighting your nervous system and start working with it
✅ Neurodiversity-affirming strategies to change your exercise routines without the rules of traditional recovery frameworks
✅ A new identity around movement so you can replace routines that no longer serve you with habits that actually align with you as a whole, unique person
✅ Clear action steps to create a relationship with movement that feels genuinely yours rather than another treatment protocol

If you’re done with recovery advice that wasn’t built for you & you’re ready to create a relationship with movement that feels truly aligned, learn more & save your seat at livlabelfree.com/exercise 🌈

If you’re autistic in ED recovery (discovery) and feel a constant urge to move, you’ve likely been told you struggle with “compulsive” exercise. You may even believe you have an exercise “addiction.”

But I’m going to be really blunt with you: there’s no such thing as “compulsive” exercise. You’re also not “addicted.”

I realize this directly contradicts everything you may have been conditioned to believe about your relationship with movement, and that’s kinda the point…

I’m also willing to bet that traditional approaches to “fix” your exercise behaviors haven’t really done anything, have they?

So allow me to share a powerful reframe with you. Just as I view eating “disorders” as eating adaptations, I invite you to replace the term “compulsive” exercise with adaptive exercise. Why?

Because the only reason you’re engaging in whatever movement routines your life currently revolves around is because you’re trying to feel safe.

You’re trying to regulate your neurodivergent nervous system in the only way you know how.

And if you’re anything like I was, your identity has become intertwined with being “healthy,” “athletic,” and “fit.”

This is why blanket statements like “force yourself to rest” and “take opposite action” haven’t worked for you. Not to mention, they massively trigger PDA 😳

So how DO you create a relationship with movement that respects your neurodivergent needs while staying within the boundaries of an aligned existence?

This is exactly what you’ll learn in my upcoming Discovery Talk! We’re live on Tuesday 4 August at 6pm CET, and if you buy a VIP access pass, you’ll get to join our live Q&A and hot seat coaching the next day!
