Annually, we receive submissions for our festival totaling over 300 documentary films, of which our selection committee recommends a maximum of 50 films submitted by filmmakers from all over the world. AWDFF is going virtual for our 14th edition, collaborating with for a massive event spanning from Africa to The Caribbean.

Documentary Films, Presentations, Filmmaker Q&A’s and Conversations will all be held online this year.

Join us for all 10-16 hours each day or pop in when you have time! This is a FREE event.

See Professor Mark Freeman’s film, Atena/Nets at on September 10! This is a site-specific contemporary dance set in Jamestown, a traditional fishing community in Accra, the capital of Ghana. Rising stars in Ghana’s dance community, Julius Yaw Quansah and Sena Atsugah are enmeshed in the challenges of daily life. Drawing from Ghanaian customs and traditions, they cast a wide net, remaking their world.
