The Art of Conversation: How Tech Killed It

Hey Learners,
I was a phone conversation the other day and I thought about it after we hung up the phone.
There is an art to conversation and many people have lost it. Some never had it.
I will dissect the three forms of informal communication.
Monologue - Greek root Monologos or one, a long speech by one actor in a play or movie, or as part of a theatrical or broadcast program.
Dialogue - Latin root Dia or two, conversation between two or more people as a feature of a book, play, or movie.
Conversation - Latin root Con or with, a talk, especially an informal one, between two or more people, in which news and ideas are exchanged.
Where did we go wrong as a society? When two people can sit at a table together while one of them is on the phone with someone else, what is that?
When two people are in the car going somewhere and the passenger is talking on her cellphone the entire time and the other person is driving and putting in the work. That's rude! Maybe it's a generational issue. Maybe I'm just old dude with outdated values.

I was having a phone conversation with my youngest son a few years ago and he explained something that I didn't know about the 'Captcha' software that many websites use.
It works like this. Organizations use "a program or system intended to distinguish human from machine input, typically as a way of thwarting spam and automated extraction of data from websites."

This has created a paradoxical relationship between proof of human interaction and automation. On one hand Google needs proof that you're human also known as Proof of Human-work (PoH) so that they can feed your answers about traffic lights, signage or things that you would see while you're driving into AI for self-driving cars. On the other hand, your answers will improve the software that Google uses in automation.

In other words, prove that you are a human so that we can automate this thing!

There is a fear by some of my fellow humans that robots will eventually rise up and take over the world. If it happens then we can only blame ourselves. We did this!

Never Forget Another Password!
I stood in front of the class and made the comment that I was cheap. One of my student's hands shot up immediately and she protested, "Mr. Brown, you're not cheap; you're frugal!" From that day forward, I was known as the Frugal Instructor.
With that in mind, I am going to show you how to save money by not paying for a password vault. This popular Software as a Service (SaaS) feature makes you beholden to them for life since they hold all of your passwords.
I propose a simple solution and if you adopt it you will never forget another password again. It's a naming convention I use for my passwords for every account I have.

Select a naming convention that has a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters. Your naming convention should contain a minimum of nine characters and upper and lowercase letters for good measure.
Be consistent. The key to this tool being effective is consistency.
