Dear Science Student,
The College of Sciences Student Council (CSSC) is holding their election for the 2016-2017 executive board on Wednesday, April 20th, 2016 at 1:00PM. The CSSC invites you and your peers to run for an executive position. The positions available are President, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Finance, Vice President of Public Relations, Vice President of Community Service, Secretary, and 4 Student-At-Large representatives. You may run for multiple positions, however you may only serve in one of those positions if elected.
We encourage students of all science majors or minors, undergraduate or graduate, to run for a position. Even if you are new to the CSSC or have never attended a meeting before, you are still encouraged to run! We appreciate students with different ranges of experience in leadership roles, so if this your first campus leadership experience, welcome!
For those of you who do not already know, the purpose of the College of Sciences Student Council shall be to serve as the representative government for the students of the College of Sciences at San Diego State University on all issues and matter pertaining to them; to advance their interests; to advocate their rights; and to oversee, manage and distribute all financial resources placed in its charge or under its auspices on their behalf in a fair and open manner. The council is composed of about 30 student organizations, 10 executive board members, and our Faculty Advisor, Dr. Estralita Martin. The council meets weekly during the academic on Wednesdays from 1:00PM-1:50PM.
To run for an executive position, you must be nominated stating your name and desired position:
1. During one of the CSSC regular meetings (April 6 or April 13, from 1:00-1:50PM in Council Chambers in the student union) or
2. By email to [email protected].
Additionally, you will be required to submit a brief executive board application (attached below).
To learn more about each of the positions, please refer to the CSSC Bylaws attached to this email and attend our meeting on Wednesday, April 13th from 1-1:50PM in Council Chambers.
