Turning Trauma into Art
~ this is exactly what the members of the Tectonic theatre company did in the aftermath of the killing of Matthew Shepard in 1998 in Laramie Wyoming.

Matthew was killed because he was gay.

This was one of those lightning rod moments when the culture began to reflect on its ignorance and it’s bigotry towards gay people. There are vigils held in inclusive communities still to this day and this month is the 27th anniversary of Matthew Shepard’s death.

This play is a peek into the experience of the Laramie community in the wake of this terrible moment. It’s illuminating and revealing and powerful.

I have been involved as sceninc artist and stage manager for my inclusive spiritual community’s rendition of this epic theater art.

We have 3 performances that you can attend this weekend ~ Friday eve. 10/10, Saturday eve, 10/11 or Sunday matinee 10/12.
