Rolando Park Elementary is a wonderful little school tucked away in a quiet southeast San Diego neighborhood. Our school was built in 1951 and it has recently undergone many upgrades such as: All classrooms are fully air-conditioned, all classrooms are fully wireless, all students have access to technology on a daily basis, and more upgrades are presently being planned. We are a school that prides

Good Morning Everyone,

We had an excellent Career Fair yesterday at school. I want to give a huge thanks to Ms. Martinez and our Guidance Assistant Alex for all of their hard work setting it up. Also, thank you to all the community members who came out to talk about their careers. The kids really enjoyed it.

Good Morning RPE Community,

Today is our last day of school before Spring Break! Students (and teachers) will return to school rested and ready on Monday, April 3rd.

Over break please remember to read with your child(ren). It is very important to stay academically sharp! Once we get back we have about 10 weeks left of school and learning to prepare our kids for their next grade levels.

This last 10 weeks or so of school is my favorite, but it is also challenging as "spring fever" hits kids - it is cute to watch but it can distract from learning. We will keep your kids focused on learning what they need to learn at school - you guys can keep them focused at home by talking to them daily about the importance of learning. These discussions make a difference in student learning and achievement.

Thanks Everyone and have a great Spring Break!

Reminder: Today is a parent/teacher conference minimum day with dismissal at 12:10 PM.

Good Morning Parents in Rooms 5, 6, 7, 8 (our 1st and 2nd grade wing).

The entire walkway is flooded. We will enter classrooms from the back door. The carpet is probably wet inside, but that will dry. Ernesto is working like crazy to get it clear. Wow...lots of rain in San Diego! But, we are like the postmen - neither rain or snow will keep us from our work teaching our kids!

See you guys soon!

Hi Everyone,

I am again sending an email with respect to gaining your support for getting our kids to school each day, as well as with being on-time.

While RPE is #1 in our Crawford Cluster of schools, we have been 43rd out of 119 District schools for the past two months with respect to our attendance percentage. Worse, 30% of our students are termed Chronically Absent, with 6% Nearly Chronic, and 25% Trending Chronically Absent. We must do better.

It is not just about the numbers. I know from first-hand experience when I was a teacher that kids who miss a lot of school simply don't do as well academically as kids who are present each day. It makes sense because our teachers have pacing guidelines that they need to hit to make sure we cover all the academic core material - if a child is chronically absent, they miss vital information.

Please help us to educate our students by setting the learning tone for the day by having our kids here on-time and present each day. This will pay off in the long run for the education of our kids. If you have special circumstances where getting to school is an issue, please let me know and I will see how I can help.

Coffee With the Cops,

Hi Everyone. Next Friday we will be hosting "Coffee with the Cops." We haven't been able to do this since covid, and I am really looking forward to it.

The last time we did this several years ago the police officer who visited us had excellent information regarding student safety issues, especially online.

Next Friday, 3/17, 8:00AM - we will have coffee and treats for you guys. Hope you can make it.

Good Afternoon RPE Community,

There is a new report issued by the Voice of San Diego regarding San Diego Schools. I have been looking over this report and I am super pleased with RPE's progress, especially coming back from the pandemic.

The bottom of page 31 shows Rolando Park. Page 17 gives an explanation of the symbols shown. Bottom line: RPE Made progress in ELA & Math and we had one of the highest Income Test Score Metrics (83) of any school in San Diego.

We have hard copies of the report in the office, or you can try the links below. I am very proud of our students, teachers, parents, and community. Nice work everyone!

Dear RPE Community,

The CA Dashboard is how schools are officially measured in California. Below are RPE's results from last year. We were 40 points above state standards in ELA, 20 points above state standards in Math, and our English Learner (EL) Progress = Very High. I am super proud of all our students & teachers.

I wanted to tell everyone that the strong partnership between home and school is vital with respect to helping our kids be their absolute best. Thank you RPE Community!

Below is a link to the CA Dashboard for RPE and I included a picture.
