Table selfies are qualitative data at its finest. We know the ideas are clicking, the community is connecting, and the content is flowing when folks gift us with their table selfies.

Where else can you make a new friend in a few hours?! That’s ASSET® AFTER SCHOOL STAFF ESSENTIAL TRAINING! A trauma-informed training framework and collection of tools that help student and staff engagement and regulation.

We love this work, and so do the people in these table selfies!

🎉 History Made in California! 🎉

Today, Calexico Unified School District and SPARKS Expanded Learning proudly made history by officially registering the first 13 student apprentices in California to participate in a Registered Apprenticeship for Expanded Learning.

This groundbreaking milestone creates a career pathway for high school students to gain paid, hands-on experience while developing the leadership, workforce, and professional skills needed to serve the next generation of students. Through this innovative program, apprentices will receive structured training, mentorship, and industry-recognized credentials that prepare them for meaningful careers in education and youth development.

We are incredibly proud of these pioneering students for leading the way and setting a new standard for workforce development in Expanded Learning. Their commitment, passion, and dedication will inspire future cohorts for years to come.

A heartfelt thank you to our partners After School Unlimited, California Afterschool Network, district leadership, staff, and everyone who helped make this vision a reality. Together, we are building the future of Expanded Learning—one apprentice at a time.

Hello again. It’s been a while since we’ve shared here, but the work hasn’t stopped. From the ASSET® Series and ASSET® Leadership Academy to Think.Feel.Read.® and the Student Wellness Project®, we’ve been hard at work supporting our Expanded Learning community.

When the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) was approved to offer the first PK-3 intern program in California, staff hit the ground running to ensure teachers would be properly equipped to support the community’s youngest learners.

School districts across the U.S. are adopting mental health practices as a part of their daily schedules and curriculums. Yoga, meditation and mindfulness exercises are being implemented alongside traditional reading, math and science lessons.
